It is no secret that debt is a word secured in our syntax. We use it everyday, multiple times a day. We use to discuss personal finances, business finances and even political states.
But that does not mean that some of us still harbor the idea of living debt free. What would that even look like? Would debt free mean living a "cash on the barrel" existence in which your salary went to household/auto expenses and the payments due for a service? Would it mean not having a credit card balance...at all?

I got my car paid off about a year ago, have many years to go on the house.
We don't use credit cards now. We did a few years ago for 'emergencies', then our health insurance got sorry and we had to start paying full price for health care. Then our income was cut back a little. It got to the point to where we were using the credit card for normal things like gas, groceries. We didn't have a choice at the time.
When we got our income tax return we used it to pay it off.
ANd, we consolidated 5 bills and saved about $350 a month.
We live very simply. no cell phone, internet ONLY for homeschool, one car, one job, no frivilous things. No rock band, no video games, no WII, no blackberry, no SUV, no soccer and football for the kids, and all other techy things out there.
We are doing just fine without them, and have our peace of mind.
