We haven't bought anything yet. I HATE having to wait till the last minute, but can't help it. Years ago I use to have all christmas shopping done in September.
No longer, partly because lots of the new toys don't come out until close to christmas.
We never use credit cards, thank goodness. We just 'buy as we go'. But, we still don't buy much.
Altogether, we spend less than $500 a year on the whole family. 3 kids, 4 grandkids, 4 parents, newphews, neices, etc.
We all get together at Thanksgiving and draw names to get one present each. I hate that cause back in the old days we would buy a present for everyone.
I love buying things on ebay and amazon. Much greater selection, don't have to fight traffic, crowds, MUCH cheaper, etc. The problem is having enough money in time for present to be delivered by Christmas.
