Wow! What is the deal here? Is this necessary? I wonder what has occurred that is problematic. I haven't seen any yard sales blighting the roadsides. Planning and Development, hmmm -
how about planning and developing some new revenue sources for Pike County and I do not mean citation fees for over-burdened citizens! Whats next permit fees?? Times are tough enough for folks.
I think this is the most ridiculus thing I've ever heard of. With the economy faltering and many people losing their jobs, people do what they can to survive. Why not really kick 'em when they're down! Obviously these people have nothing better to do.
I just can not believe this is what "they" are worried about, the way a yard sale makes them look. If you want to see something that looks awful, look at what my parents have to live next too. Take a ride down GA HWY 109 towards Molena, about 3 miles down on your left you will see a junk yard! They have a tin fence that is just ghastly. What's behind the fence is even worse. Pike officials will NOT do anything about it because they are buddies with the rude, horrible, nasty people that live there. Why don't they make them clean that mess up, they've fined them a few times but they take no action afterwords which does no good. My parents have been fighting that mess for 10+ years. They will never be able to sell their home because of the people next door and all Pike is worried about is yard sales! Whatever!
WELL I THINK IT IS NOT FAIR FOR PEOPLE LIKE ME WHO OWN A BUSINESS AND PAY TAXES TO HAVE TO COMPETE WITH THE PEOPLE WHO GO TO THE AUCTIONS AND OF COURSE THEY CAN BID HIGHER... THEY HAVE NO OVERHEAD, NO TAXES TO PAY. I THINK IT IS ONLY FAIR. WHY SHOULD YOU NEED MORE THAN 6 A YEAR... GO SELL YOUR STUFF TO A STORE THAT WILL BUY IT OUTRIGHT..OR PAY TAXES AND RENT IF YOU WANT TO OWN A THRIFT STORE!!!
Leave the yard sales alone. Go solve some problems. This is silly. The next thing you will do is tax Elly May's critters. Stupid rules like this is what causes creative people like me to get creative like: FREE STUFF INSIDE MY HOUSE...THANK YOU FOR THE DONATION. You all come back now...you hear!!!!
