When did we as a society cease to let others gain spotlight?
When did we become so self-absorbed that unless we were directly included, praised or acknowledged, we looked down upon something?
Chalk one up for embarrassment, indignity, classlessness and absurdity, as it reared its ugly head at the MTV Video Music Awards last night...again!
As a surprised Taylor Swift took to the stage to accept her "moon man" for Best Female Music Video on Sunday evening, rapper/producer Kanye West suddenly burst onto the stage and rudely stole the microphone from the country singer during her acceptance speech.
"Yo Taylor, I’m really happy for you, I’ll let you finish, but Beyoncé has one of the best videos of all time," West said. "One of the best videos of all time!"
West did later apologize on his blog with the following:
"I'M SOOOOO SORRY TO TAYLOR SWIFT AND HER FANS AND HER MOM. I SPOKE TO HER MOTHER RIGHT AFTER AND SHE SAID THE SAME THING MY MOTHER WOULD'VE SAID. SHE IS VERY TALENTED!" [sic CAPS]
Has dignity died?

He should have just tweeted from the show that Beyonce has the best vid. It was rude to take the mic, but people today thrive on controversial actions/people.

I never heard of the guy before, but he is getting a lot of free publicity now. The media awards bad behavior by giving it attention. Nobody is talking about the lady who actually won the award at all!

As usual when "someone" gets too big for their britches, as my grandma used to say, they make a fool of themselves, & that is what has happened to this nation of "I am the best they are the best WE are the best", would that have happened in reverse??

I am assuming from watching the video, everyone thought it was "just wonderful" of West to do what he did..He was rude, & made a total IDIOT of himself..& Swift, quoting now, I dont want to start anything, therein lies the problem people, if it was reversed, believe me, there would have been something STARTED
