The Georgia Forestry Commission has stopped issuing burn permits for District 4 - including Pike County - and many other districts as the state faces an extreme drought and dry conditions.
The Williamson Weather Station, monitored by the UGA College of Agriculture and Envrionmental Sciences has not recorded any rainfall since 1.42 inches fell more than a month ago on Sept. 18.

No burn permits are being issued for Pike County until further notice due to dangerous drought conditions.
