Please know that Mr. Wellmaker's children were not acceptable of Mr. Guy receiving 12 months probation and what equates to a week of community service. The family is devastated. The D.A. called a meeting with the family to inform them that Mr. Guy would receive minimal sentence because of the way the sheriff department wrote the charges . He was not arrested at the scene though he admitted to falling asleep and running off the road to hit him. His brother Commissioner Guy was present at the accident site with the sheriff department. He was charged with failure to maintain lane. The accident report also declared it hit and run. Though there may be a civil case pending, Mr. Guy claims to have no wealth or worldly possessions. Mr. Guy has shown no remorse to the family. Despite all, he gets a better sentence than a person with a DUI ticket. The Wellmaker children will never see their father on this earth again. Any person driving has the responsibility of not driving while drowsy or sleepy regardless of the cause. The citizens of Pike County should be appalled at this abomination. I hope that he doesn't repeat this and kill another human being.

Tomorrow May 7th is the one year anniversary of the death of Henry C. Wellmaker. He is missed so much by the people who cared for him. I will never forget the day that he was murdered and how the Pike County legal system gave the person who killed an innocent man 12 months probation and a week of community service.
