Private family matters of the Burousas and Mangham clans were thrust into an unwelcome public spotlight by the murder that occurred outside a Concord area home last month.

Mr. Chairman you should stand up for the citizens of Pike County. You let down us with your vote for the pipeline. You should not let Parrish Swift control the chair. You promised you would handle the county manager, he is still making a fool of you and the commissioners. It is time for Marro to go!
I guess he likes the front page and metro publicity on his family troubles. He is of no value to serve in our county. What benefit does he think will come from this situation? Is it to fulfill some fantasy or what? Our county must be represented with dignity and honesty. Where will the county end up with people like this leading it?
Just a question Mr. Chairman, Did you order the life flight medical helicopter for your daughter? If not, do you know who did?
You see, many of us have a very difficult time understanding how someone who was "seriously injured" as the result of being hit with a crow bar could be released and back home by the next day. Makes many wonder who was trying to hide her from the investigators.

#1 Anonymous, would you be so bold with your comments if you had to post your name? Hiding behind anonymity is just plain cowardly behavior. I seriouly doubt he "ordered Life Flight", but even so, what difference does it make regarding his ability to serve his community? At that moment, EVERYONE was responding to a medical emergency, with little information and few facts on which to operate. Whomever 'ordered' Lifeflight took precautionary measures.
It's the man's DAUGHTER who is under investigation, not him. Give the man a break. All he ever did was serve his community and his family for many, many years, and this is how he is treated in return?
As yet, there is NO EVIDENCE that he had any part of or knowlege of any crime. Therefore he shouldn't have to endure slanderous comments and innuendos levelled at him by cowards who hide behind anonymous postings during what is most assuredly the darkest time of his life. How utterly alone he must feel that so many of his neighbors have thrown him under the bus! You, #1 anonymous, should be ashamed.
Said it before and say it again, He lied to me about Marro and The gas vote. All you supporters out there, back him for reasons like He's my 3rd cousin, I go to church with him, I grew up with him, I've known him 30 years and on and on. None of this makes him a good leader and point man for our county. There are, for the open minded of us out there reasons of doubt and that should be enough for him to go. We should demand this of all our elected officals and not tolerate questionable surcomstances. With questionable doubt you have questionable decisions and loss of trust. It's hard enough to have trust in the elected as it stands now. Do-little Duncan is a joke Too!
If you will notice, it was just a simple question. I only pointed out obivious facts that were reported on the news and in newspapers and spread around by others in town. Just asked a question that needs to be answered. Assuming there is nothing to hide, why not answer the question. I feel certain that if you had an open mind and considered what was originally reported as well as what has been learned since - you would question the need for the helicopter and who requested it too. EMT's and first responders are trained to examine the patient(s) to determine the seriousness of injuries. Considering the level of training by those that responded, it certainly raises a question as to why, who and for what reason.
I will tell you from experience, a medical helicopter can only be ordered by medical personell. There is no way Mangham could have ordered it. I know because I am a paramedic, and no I do not work in Pike county.
Why? He is not able to have full focus on his elected job. We all know where his main priority is. I know of several occasions that he has not returned calls or ignored calls pertaining to county business that he as chairman has to attend too. He has to separate personal business from the county business he was elected for and he is not doing it 100 percent. Is that plain enough? RESIGN!
Well, that can apply to any elected official that does that part time, like a commissioner. This isn't a "100%" job, they DO have time to do other things.
Besides, it's not your decision to try to determine how he spends his day, as long as he attends to his commissioners job in a reasonable manner.
You are still missing the point. He is not giving the part time elected job the 100 percent effort required. If you have a part time 20 hour per week job, you are expected to give the 20 hours 100 percent effort or you are falling down on the job. In his case we are not getting the 100 percent. He's too distracted by his other problems and as stated by others, I question his decision making with these distractions. You must be one of his kin folk, church members or what ever. This goes for him or any other elected or public servant.
He has not returned my phone calls about the gasline vote he lied about, He has not returned emails to the BOC office. I have been told by two other people that he did not even return a call to the Govenors office. You want me to dig for more? I'm thinking we in Pike got the same kind of change we got with Obama. The OF needs to go!
Well, well, Sam I Am..Who made you the God of Commissioners? Willie Oliver was a county commissioner for my entire childhood. He also drove the school bus and operated a chicken farm. Ask Teresa questions. Leave Doug alone unless he is officially involved.
In the days of old, a chicken farmer was fine for pike commissioner and even today he would be,but Pike govergment is big business now taking a lot more time and attention by the elected ones and they should understand the counties finances, codes and so many other things than just scraping uncle Joe's road. I say it again, he's too distracted to take care of county business. His priorties are not in order right now and he needs to resign or take a leave. Others question his decission making now and so do I.
Well, Sam you are...people questioned Bill ( I love blue dresses) Clinton, but he stayed in office. Go vote when it is time to vote. Vote your way while that is still an American option. John Kennedy stayed in office when his baby son died. A person is not elected to office and sworn in with stupid stipulations like "unless my daughter is accused of murder, unless I have a family tragedy, unless Sam I AM wants me to leave." When the trial happens...let the Judicial System make the call.
Or should they all step down too?
God love ya' Shiela Tolley! Your posts are as cute and entertaining as you are forthright and gutsy! You should run for office. We need someone like you.
Sheila you are ,they should all have stepped down. I feel that they all should be above reproach. No cloud of any kind hanging over them and Doug has this cloud of lies and who knows what with the daughter. I'm affraid there is more to this than we know just like all of her defenders that came out of the wood work. Were you not one of them? Defend them to hilt and see who has the last laugh and then you can take off your blinders. I had my blinders on when I voted for Doug.
I did not vote for Doug. But he won. So he was rightfully elected into the position. I hope if it turns out that Doug is totally blameless that you are just as eager to write a public apology. If Doug is implicated and found guilty of any wrongdoing, the Judicial System should do whatever is correct, with no consideration of his position. BUT still, he should not be asked to step down because his daughter is accused.
Do you have children? Probably not. You are just pouting for some totally silly reason. Your road must need paving.
And furthermore, Sam You Are, I am not a defender of Teresa. I worked with Buzz for five years and consider him a wonderful, friendly, and hard working person. I will even go so far as to say this, some people have blogged that he beat on Teresa. I don't believe it. But who knows what goes on between husband and wife. IF..IF..IF that is true they should tack on additional years for stupidity on her part. Divorces are easy to get. I got four. They are cheaper and less time-consuming than murder. If all you have to worry about is Doug (currently not implicated) while all this is going on, count your blessings!
Yeah, unlike me, you sound like you would be hard to live with. My condolences to your wife. The generosity of women never ceases to amaze me. See answer to comment #12 if you need further explanations.
Why would Mr Mangham resign from his post when he has done nothing wrong? He has not been charged with any crime, or wrongdoing. Does he become unable to fulfill his duties just because his daughter has been charged with a crime? If Mr Mangham is willing to continue in his role as chairman, then he should not be pressured to resign.
Doug, there no way you would get 63 percent of the vote today. How many families locked their doors and living in fear after the so called attack. Did you hit your daughter or show her how to cover it up. As the chairman you have become useless to pike county. You are a old man who has a questionable life. Do pike a favor and fade away.
Hey Williamson man, do Williamson a favor and MOVE. You give the place a bad name. The stuff you wrote is way over the line of decency, and it'd serve you right to get sued for libel. You do realize your comments are not really anonomous, don't you?
I don't see anything libal out there. He is a public figure and better be able too stand the heat or get out of the kitchen. Do you not realize Marro, Swift, Powers, Willis, Collins, Palin and others have gone through the same for being public figures. Part of the job and if any of the others had the same questionable doubt, I'd be on them also and I am at some time or another.
As for the answer to the life flight medical helicopter.
There were shots fired in a crime. Atlanta handles more power residue test than anywhere around here.
It could clear her or convict her!
She was beat up in her yard! She didn't shoot anyone!
- OR -
She shot her husband!
That's the reason they sent her to Atlanta.
Atlanta hospitals deal with gun shots more than the hospitals around here.

Yes, Donna, it has been a while. Many years, many experiences, many miles and much change. Maybe one day we will move back home, but regardless, a big place in my heart will always belong to the place and the people where I was born and raised.
It's well known that the law works for the rich around here.
As someone said Jerry Colwell's TV was stolen and it was solved PDQ. This was just a murder!
Get you priority's straight!

As for commissioners: A farmer is a good commissioner. They know how life works. Big Business is crooked an low down.
The time when Mr. Joesph Chapman was commissioner are over and done.
We would be very lucky to find someone that honest. He voted down a raise for the commissioners, saying they were there to do for the people. Not to line their own pockets.
The one's we deal with now are there tiring to line their own pockets. Or get their drive way paved, grated, have use of county equipment for personal projects with good operators etc.
What I don't understand is he told 3 people I know of he was going to vote NO on the Gas Line!
What changed his mind? He was put there to represent the people! What happened???????????
Dang Shelia, sounds like you have a revolving door. Did the door get worn out by others while you were married? What do you do in your sparetime? Is that legal in Pike County? Does the health department know about your business?
I am sorry, three divorces, not four. One was just a long relationship. If by revolving door, you mean promiscuity, you could not be further from the truth. My first husband gave me a wonderful and handsome Son, my second one made a wonderful Dad for him, my third one gave me "an appreciation for the ones I divorced", my current fourth one, is the smartest and most knowledgeable man I have ever met. I am very lucky actually, if I could live my life over, I would marry the same people for the same reasons shown above except #3 and I would give him to you. Marriage 1= 3years, marriage 2= 10 years, marriage 3= 30 minutes, marriage 4= still happy. I was single 18 years after number two. I was very happy then also. Life is good. Amicable divorces allows for continued friendships with husbands that made human mistakes. MY life has been very happy with the short exception of 30 short minutes. Smile.
How much time do you think passed before PCSO was called?
I've heard rumors that Mr. Mangham as well as a prominent Zebulon defense lawyer were at the scene before the PCSO.
Just rumors, ... I know.
If that were true, surely they would have been charged with tampering with a crime scene or obstruction of justice, or,... something.
Or would they?
In my opinion, the trip on lifeflight was by design, rather than by necessity.
I just can't understand why the PCSO allowed it to happen.
I guess this is truly a county of "good ole boys".
The rest of us must play by the rules and pay the penalties for our indiscretions.
Until they prove that Doug Mangham did any wrong doing, & when he stops being a "FATHER", then all of you "people" that get your jollies putting down other people, step back & take a good look at yourselves, put yourselves in Doug`s position as a father & an elected official of Pike County, just ask yourself, & be honest, if that is possible, what would I do in the same situation..
