Two unloaded antique guns were taken into a classroom at the primary school Monday, Sept. 29. According to principal Sheryl Watts, the sheriff’s office was called and an investigation was conducted. The first grade student was enrolled Monday and visiting his class for the first time when the teacher discovered the weapons.
The sheriff's office's School Resource Deputy arrested Jamie Hawsey, 26, and she was charged with reckless conduct for allowing her child to access the guns while unsupervised. She just moved to Pike County last week from Alabama and was enrolling her son.
