I’m writing to express my concern about the litter along Pike County’s roadways and how litter has a detrimental effect on tourism and economic development.

Trash is scattered along roadways across Pike County. Local residents are asking everyone to pitch in to clean up the mess.
Litter is all over Pike, needs to be cleaned

I totally agree with this. The trash along highway 362 from 19/41 to Williamson is an embarassement. It isn't just small trash, there have been full trash bags just thrown to the side of the road! The Pike Co. transfer station in Zebulon is a wonderful facility to bring your trash. They have a great recycling center, and it it very inexpensive, especially if you recycle. There is no excuse for throwing your trash on the side of the road!

Picking up the litter could put Pike County on the world stage. They just might find the Malaysian missing plane. Our county is the only spot on earth they have not searched for the plane, it's passengers and the Black Box. The authorities should look here before searching the moon and Mars.
