Santa’s visit to Zebulon will include a trip to the J. Joel Edwards Public Library Saturday, Dec. 14. The holiday program will begin at 1 p.m. with a fun-filled story program with Rosemary Bunn, followed by an appearance by Santa himself.
No Sheila you did not hear wrong. They do not have a Warden who cared about the community any longer. The position was down dumbed to a superintendent position. Merry Christmas goes out to the Department of Corrections under the Gold Dome.
There is definitely a food drive going on at the prison. Someone is giving out false information. I am not sure what is referred to in the term "dumbed down.". The new superintendent has a doctorate degree in the field of counseling and psychology. She has distiguished service with the DOC and also serves as a university professor in the fields of psychology and corrections. She is emminntly qualified to lead, direct, and supervise West Central Integrated Treatment Facility. One of her goals is to get out and meet the leaders and citizens of Pike County. I hope you get to meet her soon.
I am the Chaplain at West Cenral Integrated Treatment Facility and the "Word on the Street" is wrong. We are definitely collecting food for the food drive and the prison staff is excited to be involved in the drive again this year. The facility converted to an intensive treatment facility in July 2012. Under Warden Sanders leadership, the transition from a Pre-Release Center to a Treatment Center for women was accomplished. The prison is the first of its kind for women in Georgia. Upon Warden Sanders' retirement, the DOC appointed Dr Alfreda Dunn-Logan as Superintendent. Dr. Logan has outstanding experience and credentials in the field of counseling and pychology. Her experience and credentials in the field, combined with her years of experience in the Department of Corrections, make her uniquely qualified to lead the staff and supervise the prison. I have worked under Warden Sanders and Dr Dunn-Logan. The DOC and Pike County are fortunate to have a facility led by people who care about the success of the programs at the facility and the success of the detainees who are being treated at the prison. I am fortunate to have worked with Warden Sanders. I am now fortunate to have the opportunity to work with Dt. Dunn-Logan. The rumors circulating concern me, because they are simply not true. Let's partner together to make sure that the false information does not continue. The prison has a new leader and let's work with her as a community to help meet the needs of the women there to overcome their addictions and return to their families, jobs, and communities.
I did not realize that you worked for Warden Sanders in the past. Edd is a great guy and I know you miss him. I am going to reprimand him for not telling me that you two are acquainted. Please tell my Earth Angel, Margaret, that I love her and to have a Merry Christmas!!
Sheila, I just received a phone call from Ms. Rhonda Morgan. There is for real a food drive in place for the Treatment Facility. Ms. Morgan was very nice and detailed how much food they had gathered and all the local merchants that had contributed. Ms. Morgan stated at this time they had 2 facility pickup trucks full and more expected.
Guess someone did put out wrongful information.
THANK YOU RHONDA MORGAN. JOB WELL DONE.
I do not know Rhonda but I do know Sallie and Virgil. I love them both. I am appreciative of the food drive, I wish I could do more....my thanks to Rhonda and all who participated. Merry Christmas to all!!!
