This year veterans will be honored by local middle school students Nov. 1 during the annual Veterans Day program hosted by the Pike County Middle School Military History Club. The program will begin Friday, Nov. 1, at 9:30 a.m. in the gym.
It moves me to tears when I see how Pike Co. honors our veterans and how we teach our children to honor and respect them. Between our V.F.W. post and Ron's airport in Williamson, Pike Co. goes above and beyond to let our veterans know how much we thank them for their service. This county is full of good "salt of the earth" people who simply have their priorities in order, love their God, respect their land, and show thanks to those that have put their lives on the line to preserve our way of life. Foe the ones that make that daily commute to the metro area to earn a living I'm sure that you too fill like me when you see the "Pike co." sign on the way home. It's like entering a place of worship, the peace that you feel as you know that you have returned from the land of confusion, strife, and hate to a home of peace, love, and family. And it's our veterans that have given us this place, and it is us who must not forget them and what they have given us.Let us continue to teach our children this lesion, that they may pass in on to their children, thatwewil always respect and honor our veterans, for without them,God only knows what kind of life we would all be living, Thank you Vet's for all you have done for our freedom and way of life.
