Top: Officers man the guard line at the scene of this afternoon's assault at 560 Caldwell Bridge Road while sheriff Jimmy Thomas (bottom) prepares to address the media.
Pike County deputies and other authorities are investigating an apparent home invasion at 560 Caldwell Bridge Rd. near Concord July 1 in which a man was reportedly shot to death and his wife savagely beaten.
Pike County coroner Terrell Moody identified the victim as 60-year-old Jimmie (Buzz) Burousas Jr., son of former Lamar County chief magistrate Jimmie Burousas Sr.
(video after the jump)
His wife Teresa was badly beaten and airlifted to Grady Hospital in Atlanta but was able to talk to investigators. Teresa Burousas is the daughter of Pike County commission chairman Doug Mangham. She is expected to recover.
Pike sheriff Jimmie Thomas said his office was called to the scene at 4:30 p.m. and Mr. Burousas was dead in his vehicle at the end of the driveway. Mrs. Burousas was found in her yard where she was apparently working. She and her dogs were reportedly attacked with a tire iron and hammer.
Sheriff Thomas said information given his investigators by Teresa Burousas and others led to a lookout for two men who may be driving a late 90s model white Pontiac Trans Am.
One is a black male about six feet tall with a muscular build who was wearing blue jeans and a black t-shirt. The other is a white male, 5-8 to 5-10 and weighing 150 to 170 pounds. He has blue eyes and was wearing a black t-shirt with a white graphic design on the front.
If you have any information on these suspects, call investigators at 770.567.8431.
Joining Pike investigators on the scene were personnel from the GBI crime lab and the Griffin circuit district attorneys office. Burousas' body was taken to the state crime lab for autopsy.
The attack took place less than a quarter mile from sheriff Thomas' home.
My prayers are with you teresa from your classmate c/o 81

OMG! this is so sad! i just really can't believe this??? what's up with all the murderers in Concord?? i mean seriously!! it's really scary because they are still on the run!!!
Well I think Pike County needs to be a little bit more open with the news and maybe who ever done this will be caught. Instead everything with go HUSH HUSH around and nothing will ever be done!!!!!!!
I am sick of this crap! This is a good family and did not deserve this. Folks we are going to have to go back to the old days and start taking the law in our own hands. Law Enforcement is out numbered and when they do try to enforce the law, they violate someone rights! Bull $%^# - I am sick of this! Get your gun permits and meet those little bastards at the door and blow their head off!! I will charge you, try you and sentence you! damn thugs!

I agree. I'm a firm believer that it's better to be tried by twelve than carried by six. If I leave my house, I have at least one pistol fully loaded just waiting to run into some idiots like the two in the Trans Am. I believe Pike SO and state officials will do everything they can then it's up to twelve residents of Pike County to correct the problem so it never happens to another neighbor. I hope I get picked for this one when the time comes.
this is very sad my prayers are with this family i'am very scared i live on caldwellbridge also and i'am also ready if these nuts come back sorry for this family's loss people say he was a great man i hope they get them soon we all need to drop and pray to god for help all is in gods hands good or bad
My thoughts and prayers are with the family. I'm a close neighbor to where this happened and you can bet my guns are loaded and waiting on the thugs! Seems the economy might be playing a part, times are getting hard, people are getting desperate. If you don't own a gun, you should buy one...the law can't protect us 24/7!
Just loaded my shot gun with 00 Buckshot, put the Interceptor bullets in my pistol and put the German Shepard on a diet so he would be hungry. Atleast they can't sue me that way. Don't tell my insurance company I have a German Shepard they might cancel my insurance.

Tragic! We should all communicate better! Slow down from our rat race and take time to know, understand, and look out for one another. This is not the time for name finger-pointing, name-calling or rambling on about playing God with a gun. It's a time for coming together and helping each other. Also, our personal freedoms are precisely what keep us free to pursue/do what we wish and deem important, without interference. My thoughts are with the family and concord community.

Teresa and Stan, our thoughts are with you. We love you both and are so grieved by this.
This is such a shock to us in Barnesville to have this terrible crime happen to good people. We are praying for Teresa’s full recovery. Our love and prayers are with Buzzy’s loving parents Judge and Mrs. Burousas at SunnyGrove and his sweet sister and their fine family. This is a wakeup call that in these times we must all stay vigilant for our own and our neighbors’ safety.

God will judge these two soon. It is up to us, whether as gun owners or jurors, to arrange that meeting . . .
his story came to me personally b/c I was such a lucky person to have worked with Buzz for many years. I have had many one to one conversations with Buzz. He was a very smart individual and had a lot to offer life. It is so sad bc he had not been married to his wife for a yr or two. My husband and Buzz were also very close and talked about politics very often. Now Buzz will be up in Heaven with my husband continuing these conversations. I so hope my husband came to great Buzz as he came across those big pearly gates of Heaven. My heart is heavy tonight...I pray that his wife recovers and that they find these ppl and they get what they deserve to do such a horrible thing to this nice family!! What is happening to this world?? I do not understand why we have got so many evil ppl in the world?? I will be up all night crying for this family and the remembrance of my wonderful husband in heaven.
May God be with each and everyone of us tonight...May he reach down and touch those that need your hand to lift them up....For those that have been lead in the wrong direction, that they can find their way back to you Lord!! Please lay a hand on this family and take all of their suffering away from them. Please help find these ppl that done this to this wonderful family. Be with us all Lord as we read this and hope that
many heart turn to you in healing and in faith!! Lord you are our Savior!! ~^~
All of you small time politicians that have moved from the Atlanta area and trying to make Pike County just like the place you moved from are doing a damn good job...
I had the pleasure of meeting Buzz while working at Caterpillar. He was such a diligent worker. He was never still. Always moving, always working. My condolences to his family. Caterpillar needs to recall two from lay-off...it will take at least two in order to fill the void left by Buzz. God bless all the people who suffer emotional hurt from his death. Godspeed in catching the sorry people who caused this tragedy.
I too worked with Buzzy at WC for several years, but i knew for around 10 years before that. Sheila is right. He was a short guy who could do the work of 2 men. Always working. I asked him why one night he didnt drink coffee like most of us. He said if he drank one cup he wouldnt slow down or sleep for days. Nobody doubted him at all. Buzzy quit high school and when he was in his late 30s he got his ged, then a computer degree, then graduated from Gordon. He was just one of the nicest guys you would ever want to meet. He was a gun owner and had a 9mm Astra i sold him years ago. I just wish he had used it if he had it in the car. The world will truly worse off with him gone. The last time i saw him him was in Ingles buying food for his parents. My thoughts and prayers go out to his family.
T says Jimmy avoids the media and she has heard him say so many times how much he dislikes it. The media has always been good to Jimmy and positive toward him during election. The PJR is good and so is our Jimmy.
omg! this is sad being that i only live like 1 mile away. i was home with my family and my mom told me what happened. the next day i was home alone knowing that this happened i knew where my family were so if they come and i hope they not but they wont be HAPPY!
I am starting to think she was somehow envolved in this mess......This just doesn't add up from the story that is being let out from the sheriff and news compared to where the body was really located (near the gate, not in the car) Calling daddy before 911( who is too scared to call 911, but can call their father?) gets a life flight and released the next day(conviently away from local press) Add it up people....this is very fishy!

I agree if you saw her on the news she was outside walking her dog????? She showed no emotion whatsoever. Her father Mr. Doug, showed alot of emotion. He was almost in tears when being interviewed by the media. She didn't look like she was injured. It just doesn't seem right. Something is wrong with this whole thing.??????
zack....i think that you may be on the right track.

Any sketches of the two men?
Any damages, markings, bumper stickers on the car?
Weapon used, pistol or rifle?
Tire tool and hammer, were they left behind?
Tire molds made?
Any blood samples other than the two victims?
Circulate information so the neighbors and public can help the authorities. They are still out there and we don't want them to come back. Don't sweep this under the carpet! It happened in our county and our neighborhood.
It is a terrible thing that happened. And it could happen to anyone, but things just aren't adding up. And I hope and pray that she hasn't done anything to cause any embrassment to her father. The whole thing is just weird. And she appears to be acting strange........I may be wrong, but I just feel she should show some kind of emotion. Whether it be shock, loss, confusion, something???????????? We haven't seen any emotion from her at all. If someone did do this, I do hope they are found, but if she did it, it will soon come out. It's just really weird...............................
Wow...how strange. No new leads on this case. Has anyone ever seen the show on A&E where they try to solve homicides in 3 days. We need some help in Pike....to protect us all from "the good ole boy system." People might see how easy it is to doop the PCSO. Then we're in serious trouble.

People stop this Trash. Before we Loose this freedom.
I may be wrong and hope so; but I think law enforcement officers can look for the two so called suspectes driving a white Pontiac TransAM until the cows come home and still will not apprehend them.
The information furnished to the public via newspapers and TV stations just don't add up.
Give Teresa time and the same treatment you would like if you were in her position. Dad being BOC Chairman and Father-in-law being a former Magistrate Judge just makes it high profile.

Whats up with this? Law is Law but it just isn"t giving the residents of pike county any information on anything. living close to were the murder happened makes you listen closer at night and keep the guns loaded , even at daylight, you are always watching cars that go up the road and listening for car doors to close. making sure when the dogs in the neiberhood are barking it is the bark you are used to hearing. just sayin if there is crimminals out there who did this the country folks are ready for you. country folks are more pentlyfull in pike county then people think. so if his wife knows something let people of pike know.whats up with that. who was it? [ or who he or she is ]

It really bothers me when people come on here with their little assumptions, mind your own business and let the PCSD do what they are here to do. How would you feel if someone in your family was going thru the same thing. Would you want to read all of this stuff about them. You people are nosy, and most likely have scanners so you can hear everything going on in Pike County....get a hobby, get a life, do something other than spread lies and rumors. FYI, I do not know her and I am not related. I have been hearing the rumor mill about these stupid comments for a while and had to see if people in Pike County really have nothing better to do and guess what, it is true.
May God be with each and everyone of us tonight...May he reach down and touch those that need your hand to lift them up....For those that have been lead in the wrong direction, that they can find their way back to you Lord!!
