The Concord city council voted to consolidate its fire department with Pike County's at a special called meeting on Tuesday June 30.
The vote was 3-2 in favor of the move.

Ref: fire dept. consolidation. Mayor Story did not vote on consolidation of fire department (he only votes in case of a tie)Three council members voted in favor and two opposed. Thank you.

What exactly does this new tax or fee entitle me to, other than another hand in MY pocket which is getting very shallow in todays economy! What is the benefit of consolidating fire services? What about people who do not live in the city of Concord?
