The first official meeting for new members of the board - chairman Briar Johnson and commissioner James Jenkins - was a lengthy one, lasting more than four hours and focusing on various animal control issues.
Commissioners voted unanimously to designate a different area of county property which is more accessible to the public and to water, power and sewer lines as the site for an animal control facility. The motion also rescinded the previous motion designating the property near the old chipper site and authorized public works director Todd Goolsby to mark out a 300x300 foot area at the new site.
