Several weeks ago I wrote a letter to the editor about giving advice. A little humorous article. Since then my letter has circulated around and friends have asked about my real advice about life. They say, "Seriously Sheila, what would you say to young people as real advice in life." You will notice that this sentence starts with an oxymoron.

As a tax paying citizen of Pike County, I am quite disgusted over the special treatment being given Mindi Bishop at her bond hearing this morning. She was taken to Spalding County and appeared before Judge Caldwell; her charges were not read in open court AND her bond was only $50,000. AGGRAVATED CHILD MOLESTATION and such a small bond. She was given a bond, then Judge Caldwell ORDERED her to have a preliminary hearing. Unheard of! This means all those inmates sitting in jail that cannot make a bond, get pushed to the back burner so little miss child molester gets a preliminary hearing. Guess who pays for the inmates sitting in jail....WE DO, the citizens of Pike County.
Maybe when elections come back up, we should not vote for a Judge that cares so little about where our tax dollars are spent...or could it be that he has also tasted ms mindi...lord knows, she has been with just about everyone who has worked in the legal system in the courthouse...what's a judge or two, or three, or all four...Now the newspaper wants to shut down the comment section on her arrest....
Maybe we should not re-elect a Sheriff that employs Deputies with no morals...you WILL be judged by those you recruit and hire! Are the deputies following the example of their leader???
Maybe Scott Ballard should have handled this case himself and shown those of us that voted for him that he DOES care about prosecuting child molesters irrespective of the gender of the perpetrator..instead of leaving the courtroom...yep, he ran....wonder why??????
I thought the newspaper was to serve the county...I thought the Sheriff's Office was to protect its citizens, the district attorney to prosecute people that break the law, and the judges were to see that justice was done...guess Pike County is just another crappy little place to live where it is still the "good ole boys!" Shame on all these leaders....
Shame on this newspaper if it removes this comment...........
