With the full numbers in, Pike County schools are again on top of things when it comes to Adequate Yearly Progress – raised standards notwithstanding, all schools made AYP.

That's interesting. I looked on gadoe.org and it states that Pike High School DID NOT make AYP but the other schools did. Where did you get this information??
to wrong and fat bass tard: I initially heard that from my child today, and then looked myself -http://public.doe.k12.ga.us/ayp2011/performance.asp?SchoolID=714-0194-g-8-0-0-0-0-0-0-0-0-0
this is where i saw it. The school hasn't posted anything formally as of today that I saw.
An official report will be forthcoming as soon as Maddox and the BOE meet with PCHS 2012 Senior Class and their parents who have taken control of school operations and facilities. The Seniors are busy this week planning their class trip to the Las Vegas Strip.
Who is paying for the Senior class trip to Las Vegas?
Pssst! Psst! Psssst! Listen up and I'll tell you. Keep it between just us. OK?
I don't know if it's a rumor or not, but, my sophomore daughter indicated some of the Seniors' parents had applied for an Obama P.O.L.E.C.A.T Grant introduced in a bill last week by Las Vegas's favorite politician, Nevada Senator Harry Reid (D). In light of mild lukewarm arm-twisted apologies given by a couple of scared Seniors, the P.O.L.E.C.A.T Grant (People Of Lesser Education Complaining About Treatment) may fall through and not be awarded to our local Goodtime Charlies.
POLECAT guidelines are very specific regarding not a single apology is to be given by any student for any act of vandalism. "I'm Sorrys" that might be issued must come from the students' parents who always make excuses and condone their children's permissive behavior. We have seen a lot of that on this Trashy Thread.
There is a backup plan in case Obama money doesn't come to the 2012 Seniors.
Again, it may be a rumor, but, I heard some local politicians have a hidden bank account called the S.O.B. Fund. (Scratch Our Back Fund) where they are able to funnel laundered Political Action Committee money to the children of their liberal supporters.
It's said, Dawg Mangerum keeps a tight fist around the S.O.B Fund purse strings.
If the funding falls through, maybe the BOE will authorize a couple of school busses to be temporarily painted in the wild psychedelic colors of the old Grateful Dead tour bus and those little touble makers driven out to the bright lights of Las Vegas by Mr. Maddox and his assistants. Truckin' to Vegas. Jerry Garcia would be proud...Keep On Truckin'
Pike County schools INITIALLY did not make AYP. When test results were submitted from students who took summer classes (still in the 2010-2011 school year), the school's graduation rate increased enough for them to make AYP. The summer numbers were not submitted with the first state Department of Education results, so that is the reason the websites have those results. In the most recent edition of the Journal Reporter, the story reports the completed 2010-2011 data, which shows Pike as meeting AYP at all schools.
The ONLY test results that should even be considered are those tests results submitted as being taken during the REGULAR school term. Having spent a lot of time in summer classes for truancy issues, I know how easily test scores can be pumped up and students "helped" out with a BIG eraser and a teacher standing over them providing assistance to ensure passing. Were these "modified" results inflated by dubious methods? Can you say Atlanta Public School test scores? Shame on PCHS if they can't prepare the students well enough to pass during the regular school term.
Pay 'ten-shun' students because y'all must pass summer classes ensuring teachers receive credit for accomplishing a great deal by their charges sliding across the finish line in a cloud of eraser dust to hear the BOE shout, "YOU ARE SAFE AYP!" Good job!
It appears there are many less than stellar graduates in this state that probably can't read what is written upon the diplomas they hold in their grubby little hands. Want fries too?

the only idiot i see here is you. both links provided by David and wondering show that the high school DID NOT MEET AYP!!
maybe you should leave this site forever since you can't even do something as simple as check a link before you run your mouth.
just because i prove you wrong and sheila proves you wrong doesn't mean we need to leave. it means we need to continue to educate you. if you would put aside your jealousy, you could learn something instead of remaining ignorant your entire life.

Laughing at who is the idiot now. Once again you were proven to be wrong. Oh my we anxiously await your next stupid response! Lol
here is the complete truth and no i was not wrong and yes you are still the idiot.
pike county high school did not meet AYP.
after an additional summer for seniors who did not learn anything the first 12 years, where they were taught exactly how to pass the graduation tests, pike county high was able to squeak by.
It does not matter anyway, in two years, no school in America will meet AYP. You should be proud that your school made it this year even with having to use the Summer School numbers. I think only 38% of Georgia schools made it this year. In 2014, 100% of children in school must pass the test including those that were born with half a brain and can't identify their mother.
that's an easy one sheila. the federal government doles out money based on the percentage of students the schools graduate. they will give it a hundred times if it helps get them more money to waste.
This is just another example of fraud in the Georgia school system. Pike County with its great schools. As long as volunteers come to keep the grounds nice for them. What a joke.
It is my understanding that you have till the end of the school year to pass the test. Students are given the chance to learn more and retake the test several times to earn a passing grade. This is common practice in most government administered test (liscensing test, driving test, citizenship test, etc). Summer school would be included in the 12 month school calendar.
That being said, the real question of how much students are learning would be the scores on aptitude test such as the SAT.
This just hits the nail on the head. Schools, including Pike County are teaching kids to pass these standardized tests instead of useful subject matter such as proper english. If you don't believe this go back and look at the grammer of the so called honor students in the earlier blog about the school prank. Meeting AYP doesn't mean students are learning anything other than how to pass a test.

Richard, I would like to meet you and discuss your post. I like the way you think.
Unless you have extensive training on how AYP works, you really have no business commenting on it. If I didn't know better, I would think you people actually hope Pike did NOT make AYP! Surely I am wrong. We all should applaud the students and schools for their hard work. What is wrong with you people? Congratulations, PC! Way to go!
you mean unless you've had extensive brain washing by the government, right? The AYP tests don't work, standardized testing doesn't work. We had better schools before all this malarky started.

You talking about those schools that have educated the three BOC losers, you, and Tolley? I think they had a class in bigotry and you all scored A+'s.
You and Tolley are helpless but the three loser's on the BOC are going to continue being educated by Macia's lawyer. Too bad it will be at the expense of all the taxpayers of Pike County.
I do not know exactly how AYP works but I do know how government and testing works. You can teach someone to pass the driving test that is an awful driver. I can teach someone to do math problems on a test but practical application could never be discussed.
Testing is very important but can never be the only measure when looking into progress. As a society we focus to much on "processes" and not enough on critical thinking and problem solving.
Well, maybe you don't know that tests in today's schools do not look much like they did in the past. You will NOT see too many questions that look like this: 2+3=_ . Critical thinking is key and in the classrooms of 2011, you will see the focus has shifted to less memorization and basic skills.and much more analyzing and critical thinking skills. You can always go online and take a look at examples of what kind of questions are being asked on standardized tests today. You may be pleasantly suprised.
Also, when I said people need to be trained on how AYP works, I was referring to the fact that there is MUCH more involved than simply test scores. While test scores are a huge factor, there are other factors that go into the formula to determine whether or not a school makes AYP!
I understand that attendance, etc also figures into AYP.
I have 4 kids Pike County Schools and a wife in college. I know what the test look like compared to what I had in High School and College. I hire alot of young people, many straight out of college, and see the outcome of today's schools. I recently hired an engineer directly out of a prestigous engineering school who had very little knowledge of how to apply his proffession.
Even if Pike County failed its AYP, I still beleive it to be a far superior system than most schools that pass. I am saying that, as far as I am concerned, making AYP does not mean much.

Wrong, can you post a link to show where you saw it did make AYP? Or are you really "just wrong"?
And for post #3, I've seen FBT prove many people wrong time and time again. Maybe you were one of them.
