What noone, and by noone I mean Congress, wants you to know is that "entitlements" are your money. Money you and I have paid into the system over our working lifetimes. Money we loaned to the government until such time we retire or are in need of it. Congress in the '60's put all social security money into the general fund, taken out of the social security fund, so they would have more of our money to spend. The ONLY reason social security and medicare are becoming unstable is because Congress, because of their greed and avarice, stole our money. If the present Congress were serious about reducing the debt and reducing federal spending they would ban their private retirement and medical plans, and join their constituents on social security and medicare. Do you think that will happen? Do you think all those braying jackasses will give up the golden goose out of concern for our nation?
This is true for some that have put money into social security and other programs ran by the government. However, there are many people who draw social security who have never paid a dime into it.
if the people in government would stop having affairs, maybe they would have time to reduce spending, cut taxes and regulation and attract businesses back to the US.
