Upset parent and tax payer.

I have lived in Pike all my life and seen alot... But this morning reallly upset me.. The high school had a few visitors over night.. A very large number of kids broke into and distroyed the school. Really went way above the normal senior prank. And most were not seniors. It was so bad that the first day o school was almost cancelled. And the sad part is that this was the same group that has done this before. And even worst, NO CHARGES WERE MADE. They break into a school that is ran by tax money and do this with no legal actions. This is so wrong..... Guess the parents are in with Duncan.
I am a taxpayer over age 65, my school taxes are a bunch--more than my property tax and they hurt. If these kids were from influential families they should throw the book at them ten fold. If they have previous problems then throw the book at them twenty fold. Throw them off the footaball team or what ever activities they are in. A true case of modern age Dumb and Dumber.
I am a taxpayer and a parent and I am also upset. These children need to be punished. How can we let people get by with breaking the law. I have seen it before. Some people don't get arrested and others do for doing the exact same thing. I believe if you do the crime, you have to do the time.
How can anyone tell the Sheriff not to lock someone up. He is in control and should have done the right thing no matter who it was.
By the way, all the students that participated in this prank were seniors. And we have definately never done this before! You don't have to pay taxes on anything we did because nothing was damaged. We cleaned up everything the night before school started. Some of you obviously don't know the whole story either, because as for the "vending machines being busted into".....That's a lie. They were completely unharmed. We have learned our lesson. I will not be participating in anything like that again, because I WILL NOT be cleaning the school until three in the a.m. on a SCHOOL NIGHT ever again! Thank you.
The Sheriffs Office was there and they were told not to lock anyone up. I was there and the several football players got sent home by the school before they could be caught. As the man that runs the school. I also seen the Magistrate Judge there getting her son out of trouble.
They Should all be in jail...... The police did there job... BUT IDIOT DUNCAN isn't doing his. Go figure! Guess he is buddys with someones parents... And can't lock one up and keep the friends kids out of jail...... So you all walk free.... They should all have at least 100 hours C/S to be worked every sat on the high school ground.. NO NEED IN PAYING SOMEONE TO CUT THE GRASS AND CLEAN PARKING LOTS... PUT A PUSH MOWER IN THERE HANDS AND A BROOM . Teach them how to act.... If it was my kid ,,,, after I wore the butt out with belt ( in front of police for the childs safety. Cause I might really WEAR IT OUT). I would tell the cops to take him and teach him what happens when you break in a building and distroy something that issnt yours. Shame on you parents for not doing something about it.. Shame on you duncan for not letting the cops do there job..
All of you that think you know, don't really know about the school. Yes it was wrong of them to enter a building and do what they did,I am not saying that. These kids have NEVER done anything like this before(a lot of our very high GPA kids that have never been in trouble before was in on this following suit) not making excuses at all. The vending machines were not messed with. And these kids not all of them (cause some never came back) cleaned the school. A couple of parents helped but not the work that the kids were doing. And as far as Duncan goes, I gained some respect for him this night. He knew this group of kids weren't bad and their parents weren't "in with Duncan". And I personally know several of them did get punished by their parents..FYI
hope you feel the same way when me and my boys come up into your home. i will bring my little bro wit me. he a straight a student. we don't plan on get'n caught. but if we do we will definitely come back to clean up and get that slap on the wrist.
walter and racheal, how about a little investigative journalism? let's find out what happened and who was involved and put a stop to this nonsense once and for all.
this has been happening for years without anyone being punished.
i've been told that the kids are at the school today with parents cleaning up the mess.
so, let me get this straight, if you tear up the school you get to take a day off from school and clean up. why aren't they out there on saturday morning at 6:00 am cleaning up?
i hope having to clean up is not the only punishment they get. after all, if you get accused with no proof that you shot someone with an air-soft rifle you get alternative school. it seems like vandalism should carry at least the same penalty.
Well I know some adults that have stolen out of the resource officers office in the old middle school and the officer that worked there then wanted to press charges and hodges begged the sheriffs department to just let it go and not stir up the system. Oh by the way she still works at the middle school. So I guess if it had been a student stealing they would have been locked up, or maybe not since duncan wants everything swept under the rug!
i think it's time we went back to corporal punishment like they have in texas. give the kid three licks with a good paddle and send them on their way. no more alternative school. want to improve graduation rates go back to the truancy laws and arrest parents who don't make their kids go to school.
if the parents want to opt out of corporal punishment, they have 15 minutes to pick up their brat or they can pick him/her up at the sheriffs office.
I don't find breaking and entering and vandalism a harmless senior prank. What if they had entered YOUR house and done the same? Would you be laughing or calling the police? Letting them off with a slap on the wrist is teaching these young adults a TERRIBLE and UNREALISTIC lesson.
I am perplexed, what's the difference between this and someone breaking in stealing computers. It cost tax payer money. As a tax payer we should demand that these kids be taught a lesson.
breaking into a vending machine inside the school and taking the items out and strowing them all over the school. I believe that covers something being broken and stolen.
Where in the crap did you get your info from?? There was NO VENDING MACHINES MESSED WITH!!!! Get your story straight before you get on here and voice your opinion about something that is not true! Get a life!
I heard someone involved with it say that one of the children went into the tampon machine and took out all of the tampons and stuck them on walls all over the school.
I agree that there DEFINITELY needs to be punishment to come from this! Performing hard labor cleaning up all that mess should only be a start. And Mommy and Daddy shouldn't be the ones doing it! How about community service added to that - maybe these kids would learn some PRIDE for what others before them (not vandals or pranksters) have accomplished! Also - obviously there is a "leader" or "leaders" involved in this - the rest of the kids are "followers". Bottom line - miscreants, ALL!
FYI..the kids that did mess up the school had not ever been in trouble before. Yes they definetly did wrong. And it took many hours to clean up their mess. I don't think they thought about the severity of what they were doing(felony charges) And I know alot of these kids have been punished at home also. And as far as the parents being "in with Duncan" is farthest from the truth. I did gain some respect for him Wed. night(Thurs. morning) when he was still up there and helping and talked to the kids about how severe this was and the criminal action that could have taken place. So get your info correct and the vending machines were never touched.
So you are telling me that there were 75 kids and none of them had never been in trouble befor or maybe they have never been caught or maybe they have never been caught on camera or maybe they have been caught but the parents got there faster than the authorities. I knew good kids when I was in school, I was not one of them, and they would have never done anything like this. Wilding, I think that is the term.
Nobody thinks about the severity of the felonies they commit because they don't think they will be caught. Hope my children do not read your post. Bad enough to hear children make excuses but to hear an adult make them for them. You make me sick. If someone commits a felony against you, your family, or your property you would not be so understanding. What about the story about the Magistrate Judge? Not far from the truth is it? Its a good thing they have never been in trouble before. That means they will get probation instead of going to jail.
if the judges kid is involved they will all walk. what a terrible example this makes for other kids. something tells me most of them, if not all, were white.
They are children. They have to have a outlet. There are no drive ins, no Varsity to hang out at and too hot to steal watermelons. Risk management insures stuff like this. Leave them alone.
I took part in the prank, and believe me, I regret doing it. But also we didn't harm anything.. or anyone and what we did mess up was cleaned. I mean you people are trying to ruin lives with trying to get people to press charges. I personally think the detective telling us we were going to jail and wouldn't be able to graduate was scary enough to learn not to do this again. But I mean you all act like you haven't made mistakes in life. We are teens and we do stupid things and we are sorry for what we did! Our parents are taking care of our punishments, so i personally believe if your child wasn't involved then you shouldn't get to decide what happens to us.
Everybody must be forgotten what the adults were doing when scott john, mr. williams, and all daryl dean, bill thompson and all the rest of the adults that were things on school hours and all they got was a slap on the wrist and are still some where in a school system working. What about the woman stealing from the resource officers office, did she get arrested? I heard she didn't, but then everybody wants to yell lock these students up that did exactly what they've seen the adults that are supposed to be setting good examples.
I am by no means saying that nothing should be done, but just remember what the adults have done and are still doing and not be disciplined!
If You know something say it out loud or shut up.
How can anyone tell the Sheriff not to lock someone up. He is in control and should have done the right thing no matter who it was.
now they feel entitled to tear things up. i hope they get sent to the alternative school like students who did a lot less.
