County commissioners discussed the Transportation Investment Act of 2010, known as the T-SPLOST, at the July 26 meeting. Several concerns about the proposed 10-year 1% sales tax were raised, including the selection of road projects, the 30% penalty for required state transportation improvements if the special tax does not pass and unequal representation on the executive committee for the 10-county district. i say we exempt all pike county citizens from state and federal sales and income tax. implement our own sales tax and pay for our own roads. i'm getting a little bit tired of the hitler mentality of our state and federal representatives.

ignorance again has you spouting off nonsense. the middle class takes a beating worse than anyone. no handouts from obama and no big tax breaks from bush. being your not rich and not poor it is understandable why you are pouting all the time. the "very rich" don't even want to provide health insurance worth a dam to their employees. and then you and bush approve tax breaks to companies that pay their ceo's in one year more than you make in a life time. you are getting screwed by the poor and the rich and are so stupid you don't even realize it. i feel much better giving to the poor. only a man with your sense of reasoning would think it makes more sense to give to the rich. i know one thing though. if i felt the way you do about America i would leave. besides if only the very rich pay for everthing what do you care? you are far from very rich. oh i forgot. you are looking out for your "very rich" fellow Americans. For once, FBT, I agree with you. Taxation without representation was one reason our forefathers fought the Revolutionary War. Seems as if today's legislators are following old time overseers policies.... tax us til we die!. Never again will I vote for an incumbent. There should be a way to fire all politicians for failure to perform, without recall! But what do I know? All they expect of me is to pay taxes and die, so I can be taxed one last time!

Kroger is opening a new store in Griffin. Certainly there are many in Pike County who will shop there. We should legislate a law that shoppers provide a PIKE ID so we can receive the SPLOST here for our citizens spending their money there.
