A veteran Clayton Co. deputy shot and killed during a traffic stop today lived here in Pike. He has been identified as Ricky Daly, 55, of Wrightsburg Way in Zebulon. Daly once worked at the Pike Co. sheriff's office.

His son is a lieutenant with the Fayette Co. sheriff's office.

UPDATE: The suspect in the shooting, 17-year-old Jonathan Bun, was arrested at about 8:30 p.m. Wednesday. His mother was also picked up.

This is terrible. It sure does get dangerous up the road from here. Thats the second one this year in Atlanta isn't it? I can't fathom the idea of being a law enforcement officer. I would be too paranoid of getting shot to even be able to function. True sh@t there. You can ask my Doc. I guess that is what the psyche test is for. To see if you are crazy enough for the job. Tell us about statistic's FBT. If this man stayed on the P.C.S.D. he would still be alive today. Isn't that a fact? Again real sad. But where would the world be without these people who put their life on the line to benefit our well being.

I refuse to dishonor this post with your child's play and bitterness. There is a time and a place for everything. But to answer your question my last employer not only ran me off but put a $10,000 check in my pocket not to come back! With enemies like that who needs friends! You got me thinking though. Maybe if I wasn't such a coward I could have got $20,000.
I still have to work on that .01%. If I can not keep my stupitidy at the 100% level I am in danger of losing my crazy check.

my apologies!! no disrespect meant at all. but if the job doesn't require a specific type of mind set why even have a psyche test? i have had about 30 jobs in the last 25 years and nobody ever gave me a test to see how my brain was wired.
i meant crazy like freestyle motorcross riders, olympic skiers, mountian climbers, crab fisherman, and ice road truckers. not crazy like me.

No my friend, it is you who doesn't understand the meaning of the word "respect". You thrash about this board, posting whatever miniscule thought your brain will produce and when someone calls you on it, you try to blame them.

I think you need to take a long hard look at your life and your values and see what you can do to improve your self image.

If you are who I think you are, you've posted many times about taking money from the government. Perhaps if you found a job that you could be proud to perform, even if it wasn't what you used to be capable of, it might return some of your self-respect.

Everyone who knows me in real life will tell you that you are so far off base its ridiculous. Loving family, more cash than I can spend, and not to bad looking either. Life begins after you are done making a living friend. Its pretty cool to have all day to spend with your family and loved ones.
As far as work it is not an option. No doctor will sign off for me to return. Still makes me sad. Maybe when I get over that I can begin respecting myself. hee hee! Your a trip. LOL for real.

i'm not 100% clear on what you are trying to say. i am glad that this little hoodlum will be given justice at an adult level.

i hope that justice will give this family some amount of peace but i know it most likely won't. you can't make up for the loss of a loved one no matter what.

i did not know this gentleman personally; but, i've heard from others that he was a good man.

I can only imagine the pain and suffering you are feeling at this time. Your husband/father/son is a hero. His dedication and love for his job and the sincere desire to protect and serve people everyday is what makes him just that, A Hero!

My husband actually went out and assisted in the apprehension of the suspect. Over his 23years in law enforcement he has been to many funerals of fellow officers he worked with and some of officers that he did not actually know. It is very hard to accept. Police officers are brothers wether they personally know each other or not. It physically feels like a family member has been lost. I pray for the safety of all men and women who has vowed to serve and protect. They are special people.

it's difficult for me to consider the execution of a man who murdered his parents and teenage sister murder. my only problem with the execution of andrew deyoung is that it's nearly 20 years in the making.

If questioned why you do not follow them you can go with the many popular excuses the bible belt is famous for: I am a Non-Biblical Christian. We are all sinners. We all fall short in the eyes of God. I never read the Bible. Uncle Bubba taught me all I need to know about the Bible.

My thoughts and prayers are with the Daly family. I work with his sister so I have heard some of the stories. Much respect for anyone who wears a badge. She said that after it happened the Fayette police lined his street and just stood at attention letting him know they were there for him if needed. That's a family! RIP!
