As the county looks to cut costs wherever possible, the Pike County tax commissioner’s office will no longer accept credit cards beginning Aug. 1. The office hopes to create a website in 45 to 60 days so residents can pay tax bills and tag fees online using credit cards.

I am ready but my credit card was just approved and will not be available until after August 1st. By than I will not be able to buy a tag for my car to leave. Does China House accept cards? I think I will just buy a bunch of Chinese food instead being the tag office doesn't want the money. China must be up north somewhwere?

The only businesses with revenue of over $1,000,000 that do not take credit card's in this day and age are those who are hiding income from the I.R.S..
Just wondering. Do we still get to watch those monster fuel burning firetrucks ride in the local parades. Or did someone happen to see the cost of fuel lately?

$20,000 aint crap. This lady trying to look like some kind of hero by inconveniencing people trying to give her department money? Look out folks! She might really come to her senses and the local police might have to go out and buy their own cars to get back and forth to work. Between gas and maintainence it will save the county a heck of a lot more than $20,000 a year. And like the folks up north figured out the department would require less vehicles if they didn't turn into free rental cars on the taxpayers dime while off shift. Quit trying to hide money Donna. The citizens of Pike are watching you. And everything else going on. Are you folks still going to put my "Pike" sticker on my new tag or do I have to do it myself for now on. If it saves you from having all those people from behind the counter I got it!

The office has too many desk clerks. Tags were made due on birthdays to avoid long lines. Sad to walk into that office with 4 clerks with nothing to do. Tighten up like every other department, downsize.

Which of the four window ladies sets up long term monthly payments (or arrangements)for those special individuals who do not pay property taxes on time? Are interest rates lower than bank rates?
