Williamson council members received some long-awaited news at the July 7 meeting. Mayor Steve Fry announced work on the library/educational center was set to begin the following Monday. Both water and electrical service have been connected to the building.

Steve Fry was a superior BOC chairman in Pike County, sad to lose him. He made 2 bad decisions; 1 he hired his realtive to be County Manager. 2 he allowed this County Manager to hire his half sister away from Clayton County to be his county planner.

I'm glad He got defeated also. But I'm a little sick of everybody coplaining about the budget. The Census shows a 33% increase in population in the past ten yrs and County services really sucked in the 80's. Blind Commissioners let the resevoir go to Griffin without protest and then let the waterline go through with no fire hydrants attached..

i'm not sure which school of math you attended, but a 33% increase in population does not require a 100% increase in cost. the services have not changed one bit and i've been in pike county since 1963.

perhaps you should be the one to grow up.

wasn't steve fry in charge when the reservoir was authorized? i'm not sure on that one but i'm thinking maybe he was.

Hey Tard, Bobby Harrison was Chairman when the Resevoir was handed off to Griffin. Bobby Blount was Chairman when the County turned down the offer to have the Fire Hydrant every 1000 feet along that pipeline, the Hydrants would of also allowed a places to tap smaller waterlines from easily. Takes major bucks to tap that 36" line after it's in. Steve Fry tried everything possible to get some control and/or revenue from the Resevior/Pipe Line but the dumb butt mistakes were already History..

Libraries are now history. They come on Goggle or a disk. No longer do taxpayers have to foot the bill on employees, utilities, maintanance or insurance. Best of all Google is open 24/7.
Steve should have just ask. This one is a freebie Steve.

No more joking around. Former County Manager Stephen A. Marro was responsible for working out a agreement with the local bank for the building at no charge. The library should be named THE STEPHEN A. MARRO LEARNING CENTER.
