BY KAY S. PEDROTTI
Haiti was a poor country before the 2010 earthquake. Now it is destitute, and those suffering most include orphans at Grace Orphanage and Theophile (love of God) School in a Port-au-Prince suburb. A team of caring people including two from Pike County, three from Barnesville and two from Spalding County – leaving for Haiti on June 28 – has plans to change the lives of some “graduating” orphans.
Wearing their “Hands on Haiti” t-shirts, a group leaving for the impoverished island June 28 includes (l-r) Carly Proud and Andrew Hanrnack, Courtney Armistead and Butch Armistead of Pike County; Pastor Katie Pasch of St. John Lutheran, Griffin, Ellen Granum of Barnesville, Karen Acker and Mary Rachel Mayo.

Good article and good news. We sent $25,000,000 to Haiti and no one there or our government knows where it is. We have orphans right here in Georgia, take care of our own before doing the goody goodyto Haiti. Oh, nice T-shirts.

As you disrespect the work that this group is doing, I will say a prayer for you. You can ridicule this group for helping another area, but These folks are members of the same group who spend weeks getting ready to help feed over 1200 people on Thanksgiving Day. They are part of the group that collects money on Super Bowl Sunday to feed the needy in the area and statewide. These people also donate time and money to schools, shelters, and several other causes around the Griffin area. They take care of their own and are happy to help any place that it is needed. Did you spend your Thanksgiving delivering meals? Did you donate money on Souper Bowl Sunday? Do you donate to the food shelf and the womens shelter every week? Bite your tongue and keep yourself in check because it is these people who are out there helping those in need instead of bad mouthing people without knowing the facts.

You must understand these are good Christian people. "our own" to them are all of Gods people. When your unselfish and do Gods work there are no borders. Just one planet created by God inhabited by his children. I wish them all a safe and enlightening trip.
