J.P. Massengale won first place at the new Zebulon Speedway during the first non-official race April 16. The race was flagged by Macy Boggs. The track’s Grand Opening will be held May 7.

After 42 years of silence, the Zebulon Speedway will roar to life May 7 with its grand opening celebration. The dirt track originally opened in 1966 as the Zebulon Crazy 8 Speedway and closed just a few years later in 1969. Now the speedway will open as a go kart track with the possibility of expanding to legend and winged outlaw cars in future seasons.

The track is (and was) located across from Moody Funeral Home on Highway 19. There are two driveways, one is dirt and one is paved. The paved drive is the entrance. Grand opening coming soon!

understand this, i don't worry about myself, it is my fellow man that concerns me. i own my own business and am very prosperous. $4.00 a gallon gas while irritating to me does not change my lifestyle. however, it does change others. waste in government does not change my lifestyle; it does change others. if you prefer an america that can't pay it's bills then please, continue to support obummer and the democrats. i will not. i will oppose them with every ounce of my being until they are out of office.

if you read the entire first sentence instead of the part you want to be true, you will see that unemployment went up in april. that means there were more jobs lost than created.

u.s. employment increased more than expected in April AS PRIVATE COMPANIES CREATED JOBS at the fastest pace in five years. Nonfarm payrolls rose 244,000 last month. the most in 11 months. the privite sector (one tard claims to be part of) accounted for all of the job gains last month with payrolls rising 268,000. the largest rise since 2006. goods producing industries gained 44,000. construction gained 5,000. manufacturing 29,000. i do not understand the attack on obama when this recession began in 2007 while bush was in office. you can take ones advice and sit on your ass and collect that goverment check believing "businesses are not hiring". but i wouldnt relay that advice to others. some might refer to it as obvious stupity.

I am surprised to see my husband George has supporters still. He has been so depressed and feels like such a failure after the state he left the country in. His demise has been making him shy away from the media and public events. Maybe if you could send some fan mail or something it will help him get off the couch. Please tell me how our tax dollars support this. It sounds like private enterprise to me. If it is government supported, pull the plug until a private concern can operate it. Same goes for all government supported golf courses, ball fields etc.

I think its great! Something fun and great for the family....all right here in Pike County! I think its a wonderful thing during such hard times. Its a little bit of positivity in these trying times! Sounds like a great place to get away from it all. Dont mind the haters....they will always be around trying to bring you down!

I agree. We need some entertainment in Pike County. What better way to spend a Saturday than sitting at the racetrack with your children. Fatso was my uncle that I never got to meet due to the fact that I wasn't born until 1970; however, I did have the pleasure of knowing my uncle Snookie Craven who loved talking about racing at that track. I can't wait to go and take my boys. See you there on Saturday.

I wish them success. As for myself I hate dust, noise, high trucks, boom boxes and crowds. Is this a non-smoking event? As the crow flys I pray the loud noise does not drift over to Reidsboro Road. It could, sometimes I can hear the trains over in Woodbury.

I think this is a cool idea, great way for families on a limited budget to spend time with their kids. And it is just a added bonus that the kids will be able to see their friends from school. Don't know if I will ever attend though as my kids are busy with other outdoor sports like fishing and hunting all the time. But I know if we can swing the time we will attend.
