Government shutdown avoided

Last night, after months of negotiations and a near-government shutdown, Congress and the White House reached an agreement on the 2011 fiscal year continuing resolution. The agreement is a two-step process. Right after midnight this morning, the House and the Senate passed a stop gap measure, averting a government shutdown and funding the federal government for six more days while cutting $2 billion in those six short days. Then, early next week, both chambers will vote on a complete funding bill for the remaining agencies that will cut $39 billion from the 2010 levels. All said, House Republicans have secured $79 billion in cuts from President Obama’s budget proposal for FY11. The agreement also cuts funding for abortions in the District of Columbia, assures an up or down vote in the Senate on both cutting funding for Planned Parenthood and on defunding ObamaCare, and cuts some of the allocated funds for ObamaCare. I'll bet obama is glad. I heard Air Force One was circling for a while in case it had to land in the USA.

Who are you kidding? Typical news media garbage about a government shutdown avoided. This government needs to be shutdown. It is so corrupt that we need to get rid of every politician in Washington and start over. Congress is similar to unions and their drama, drag it out until the last second of the last minute. How else can 24 hour news coverage have something to talk about. A government shutdown would be a non-event. Some people might not get paid but you can be assured ever politician would be.

Time to get real. If President Obama looked hard he would find that congress members and senators probably have not even paid their property taxes back home. Wanna b politicians always want to do a workout payout plan on their own taxes or not pay them at all. They are cry baby bums, moochers looking for a handout.

I am sick of self serving politioans. Our own Billy Maddox won't even respond to emails from those in his district. Time for him to go. One term should all that any politican should have. After that they become self serving crooks.

it's criminal how the mainstream media spins this so that the republicans appear at fault when if you know anything at all, you know the democrats had a majority in the house, senate and held the presidency right up to december 31 and could have passed a budget at any time during that time.
