A Butts County man and his three-year-old child were killed overnight when a tree toppled by strong winds fell on their home. The man's wife and another child were sleeping in a different room and survived.
Dozens of roads were closed in Pike County this morning by fallen trees. County work crews have re-opened all of the 20+ closed roads - sometimes removing century-old trees - except for Blount Road.
Two trees were torn in half by the storm's strong winds at this home on Concord Road.




















We were without power from around midnight on. One huge lightning strike, then it all went black. I have no idea what time it finally came back on. I did see a few trees down around Concord this morning, but we didn't lose any.
