Every precinct in the county voted in favor of a new Special Purpose Local Option Sales Tax to pay for courthouse renovations and road and bridge improvements March 15, with 18% of registered voters making it to the polls.

Well I cannot believe people voted to have the roads of Pike County Fixed. I wish there were more topics on this board for me to complain about. Then my friends would back me here. I just cannot believe the SPLOST vote won.

according to all i've read in the uniform code of georgia, you can have only one splost active at a time...

i guess if we keep changing the names, we can have as many as we want. i think they have to be made into law by the state first however (as the 4 mentioned are or are in the process of becoming).

i do agree with your original statement to vote no on the E-SPLOST.

it will pass though. i think i'll support it on here just so the dummies that will do anything to disagree with me will vote against it.

I feel that "most" of the roads in Pike are in good shape. They need to grade a couple of the dirt roads a little more often. If they want to fix a road, why don't they pave the mud pitt that connects Watering Hole Dr to Watering Hole Pass in Ranchland Estates. The Developer will not do it. This may keep the "children" with the 4x4 trucks from getting stuck and destroying private property, and waking up sleeping families at 2:00 am.

In 5 years the court house will still be falling in and the roads will be worse than they are now. Keep this in mind. We need a strong young leader, experienced on the BOC to replace the present Chairman. I'm coming.

The CFA already has a plan in place to stop the Courthouse restoration in it's tracks. New CFA commissioner want's the Oversight Committee dissolved. Guess they want to use the money to promote section 8 housing. Dirt Bags.

the cfa has no power to stop anything. there are 5 commissioners, only two had the support of cfa.

if the courthouse is not renovated with the splost money. all 5 will be fired.

Hey Fat's, Wake Up boy You can't win while You are sleeping. Tommy Powers had stiff competition from fellow republican Margie Trammel and Democrat Chris Curry, The CFA sponsored Tommy's candidacy and He credits them with His vitory. Damn Boy, Check things out before You run off at the mouth.

i don't think so, but hey, i'll ask him next time i see him. in the meantime, i'll assume you are correct.

i can tell you this i know that doug was supported originally by the cfa; but, i have it straight from cfa's mouth that doug went off the reservation almost immediately upon taking office. so i would bet he won't be swayed by any plan that cfa might have.

be careful who you listen to in this argument, i have contacts on both sides and i can tell you that agenda's abound on both.

Well Fat's we'll see tonight. If they dissolve the SPLOST committee tonight then You can be sure that David Hughes is behind it. The Citizens were promised that the Citizen Committee would be with the project to the end to approve plans and oversee spending.

Pay close attention tonight.

I'm so glad the committee stayed in tack and I never said Tommy recieved financial support even though I personally saw David Hughes pass over a hundred dollar bill, At the planning session held to support Doug Mangham, Tommy Powers and Jake Garner. Two out of three aint bad.

sorry, i understood it to be financial. cfa's support as a politician may or may not help you.

as far as "seeing" david pass money, that's easy to say as anonymous with no culpability.

understand, i don't care that you are anonymous, i just have a hard time believing those types of statements when the person making them takes no responsibility.

david hughes is not a god. the boc are just human beings. they have no special powers.

Another SPLOST vote in November? YRSM ! The problem is not having enough money for the BOE. The problem is top heavy salaries and contracts. Start with cutting the top high paid dogs. Then put a stop to the BOE office affairs, more work would give them less time to fool around. NO MORE INCREASE IN FUNDING FOR THE BOE. If you don't like it drive those sweet kids in your SUV to Clayton County.

The BOC has been busy as a cat covering up ssss back peddling on the doing away of the SPLOST Committee. That's exactly what they wanted too do along with CM Sawyer. I understand Comm Collins is the one that put up the hands for stop doing away with the committee. They dummies talk about accountability, then almost play right into David Hughes hands. I don't think it's over yet because Sawyer will want to be in charge of the committee and turn the oversite committee into meaningless group with him and the CFA backed commissioners doing as they please. Here we go again. Promises, Promises, Promises.

if you know this to be fact, you need to let the judge know. he has already ruled twice that they cannot have these "impromptu" meetings.
