The Pike County Pirates fell 28-13 to the Mt. Zion Bulldogs Friday night at Tara Stadium in Jonesboro. The subregion loss dropped the Pirates to 1-6. The win, the first for the Bulldogs, upped their record to 1-6.

The cities of Molena and Concord held emergency special called city council meetings Thursday, Oct. 16 at 7 p.m. following the arrest of Jim Roberts Oct. 15.

Roberts served as mayor of Concord and police chief of Molena. Concord's mayor pro tem John Strickland was appointed as the city's acting mayor and in Molena, an interim police chief was appointed Oct. 16.

UPDATE: Roberts He was arrested by the GBI and faces charges of solicitation of sodomy and theft by conversion. He was denied bond by Judge Fletcher Sams at a preliminary bond hearing in superior court Thursday morning. [Full story »]

CrossPointe Christian Academy students recently cast their votes for student council positions following the same procedures as adults for the upcoming Nov. 4 election. Student voters registered to vote and applied for absentee ballots if they were unable to make it to school Tuesday, Oct. 7. Candidates qualified for their respective positions by meeting behavioral and grade level criteria and paying a qualifying fee. [Full story »]
