Imagine having 1,200 telephones. Zebulon resident and county manager Mike Phillips earned a spot in the Guinness Book of World Records for having the largest telephone collection with 1,135 different phones in 2011 and has increased his collection since then. Some of the phones are on display at the J. Joel Edwards Public Library. If you didn’t know it, you wouldn’t think some of the items are phones.

Former Pike County standout kicker Dan Andersen has ended his kicking career with a National Championship playing for Valdosta State. His team defeated Winston-Salem in the Division II National Title game 35-7. Andersen was five for five on the PATs.

E-SPLOST projects have started at Pike County schools and auditorium renovations are already about a third complete. Other projects underway include installing a temperature control system at the elementary school, placing water coolers at the high and primary schools and installing auto flushing valves for toilets at the primary and elementary schools.

Lamar deputies and officers of the Narcotics Task Force raided a home near Orchard Hill Wednesday and seized 'pink meth', a type of speed that is particularly attractive to children because it looks like rock candy.
Tax reform legislation enacted by the Georgia General Assembly in 2012 created a new system for taxing motor vehicles registered in Georgia. As a result, the annual vehicle ad valorem tax, often called the “birthday tax,” will change to a state and local title ad valorem tax.
