The Gordon State College cross country team recently closed out its best season ever. The women’s team placed second in the NJCAA Division 1 Region 17 Champion while the men finished fifth.

“This is by far the best team I have ever coached,” said coach John Campbell, “not only in their performance in the meets but in their sense of team off the track.” [Full story »]

Pike County High School cheerleaders took part in the GHSA Cheerleading State Championships in Columbus on Saturday, Nov. 10.

More than 5,000 spectators watched as Pike performed their two and a half minute routine. The Pike squad was as near perfect as a team could be but fell short in the point totals. Pike had a total of 258 points out of a possible 300. Pierce County won the championship with 289 points. This was Pike’s highest point total of the year. [Full story »] 

A Pike County student was named a state finalist for the Wendy's High School Heisman. Stuart Gregg of Williamson plays several sports at Flint River Academy and will graduate with honors in May.

He has played for FRA's Wildcats basketball, baseball, track, tennis and football teams as a starter all four years of high school. He plans to attend Georgia College and State University to major in agricultural economy. [Full story »] 

The Pike County Marching Pirate Regiment Band performed at Newnan’s Old South Marching Festival on Saturday, Nov 3. The Pirate Regiment competed with 23 other bands from as far away as Kentucky and South Carolina. Pike County not only received the highest rating possible in all categories of competition but swept their division. [Full story »]
