Pike County High School drama students placed second in the Region 2AAA One Act Play competition in Macon Friday, Oct. 19.

In addition to bringing home the second place trophy, Eliza Norton won Best Actress in Region. Taylor Blake was selected for the All Star Play cast award in Pike’s play, “The Greek Mythology Olympiaganza” by Don Zolidis. [Full story »]

Slightly lower unemployment

Pike County unemployment was again second lowest in the region in September at 8.7%, down slightly from 8.8% in August. Joblessness was 10% in September 2011. There are now six of 10 Three Rivers counties in single-digit unemployment. [Full story »]

Honor Our Veterans Saturday

The Honor Our Veterans Day celebration set for Saturday, Nov. 10 at Candler Field Museum in Williamson will feature a U.S. Air Force flyover, a parachuter displaying the American flag, a 21-gun salute, planes flying in the Missing Man formation, a Blackhawk helicopter and more. Veterans will receive recognition in the all-day family oriented program that presents military aircraft, authentic displays and recreates a military style breakfast and lunch in an open-air mess tent.
