Several Pike County criminal cases involving child exploitation and molestation have been moved to Upson County courts because they cannot be heard in the current courtroom, which was moved to the Pike County alternative school because of courthouse construction. Convicted sex offenders are prohibited from being on school property. In Georgia, sex offenders cannot live, work or loiter within 1,000 feet of any school, childcare facility, school bus stop or place where minors congregate.
