Pike County middle and high school students completed their annual band camp last week led by drum major Blaze Carter. Band members and staff put in 12 hours of work and practice each day to get ready for the 2012 season. [Full story »]

Share It Forward for July 28 event

Local citizens will get a chance to ‘Share It Forward’ or to benefit from the generosity of others as the Share It Forward Back to School Bash kicks off July 28 from 10:30 a.m. to 12 noon at Pilkenton Field with food, inflatables and more. Many different school supplies are needed to fulfill the required materials for local school children in kindergarten through fifth grade.

Leslie Brown of Concord received a liver and kidney transplant April 21 at Emory Hospital. A community fundraiser will be held Saturday, Aug. 11 from 5 to 9 p.m. to help with the cost of the procedure and required medications. The event at the Christ Chapel student center on Highway 19 will include live entertainment, games for children, a cake auction, big ticket item raffle, door prizes and barbecue plates.
