Seven years ago, 4-year-old Pike County native Mackinnah Rogers was transported from Zebulon by ambulance to Children’s Healthcare of Atlanta for a broken arm. While in the ambulance, one of the paramedics gave Mackinnah a stuffed giraffe to help ease her fears. She is now 11 years old and an elementary school student at Pike County Elementary and while her arm has long since healed, her heart still breaks for other children who are injured and must face the uncertainty of an emergency situation.
