More Indian marker trees found here
Authors and historians Don and Diane Wells visited Pike County recently and located three more Indian marker trees. The trees are at least 185 years old and up to 300 years old. They are believed to have been bent as saplings to point in a specific direction. Using a forked stick at the trunk, the trees were tied down for several years of growth.

Disaster drill set for Feb. 17

Suspects flee officer, wreck car
Suspects in a small car fled from officers on Old Zebulon Road around 2 p.m. Friday, Feb. 10. The driver was headed east on Old Zebulon Road when he crashed the vehicle crashed, flipping 100 yards off the roadway in the woods just beyond the intersection of Howell Road.

When I was in school the children made theirs by taking a piece of paper, folding it and cutting a heart shape, coloring it with crayon and putting a little verse in it. It went something like: Roses are red, violets are blue and I love you or be my Valentine. We’d drop them in a box and later the teacher would call out the name the card had been sent to.
