Recently discovered infestations of cogongrass in Pike and Upson counties have been eradicated by the Georgia Forestry Commission. The infestation in Upson was discovered by an alert landowner. In Pike, a passerby recognized cogongrass on a roadside. Both notified the GFC, whose forest health professionals positively identified the invasive weed and sprayed the infestations with herbicides. This was the first infestation found in Upson and the second confirmed in Pike.
