The Lady Pirates basketball teams coached young players during a youth basketball camp the week of June 6 at the middle school. More than 30 girls worked with high school and middle school coaches, along with the varsity and junior varsity players, to learn fundamental basketball skills, do drills, take part in competitions and play in scrimmages. The Pike County archery team came home with team and individual honors from the State 4-H archery outdoor match held May 14 at Rock Eagle 4-H Center in Eatonton. Pike had three cloverleaf compound teams, two cloverleaf recurve individuals, two junior compound teams, one junior recurve team, one senior compound team and one senior recurve individual. The Pike County Pirates baseball team held its 2011 banquet Tuesday, June 11 at Christ Chapel Church. After a great season and just short of the state championship, the Pirates celebrated with a barbecue dinner and desserts brought by the parents. [Full story »]
