Because of a default in the payment of the indebtedness secured by a Security Deed executed by Kelvin J. Butler and Elizabeth J. The debt secured by said Security Deed has been and is hereby declared due because of, among other possible events of default, failure to pay the indebtedness as and when due and in the manner provided in the Note and Security Deed.

SRE: Outages down to 800
Southern Rivers Crews made great strides overnight in restoring power to cooperative members and, as of 8 a.m., outages were down to 800.

Judge appointed to Burousas murder case
One of Pike County’s most recent murder cases is a step closer to coming to trial after a judge was recently appointed to the Teresa Burousas case. Judge A. Quillian Baldwin Jr. of the Coweta Judicial Circuit will preside over the murder trial. A date has not yet been set for the proceedings.

Pike grows 31%
Pike County’s population increased by 30.55% during the period 2000 to 2010, according to U.S. Census data extrapolated by Three Rivers Regional Commission personnel. Pike’s population grew by 4,181 over the period going from 13,688 to 17,869. Williamson showed the best municipal growth, growing by 55 residents from 297 to 352. Of those, 83.5% were white, 9.9% were black, 4% were native Hawaiian or Pacific islander and 4% were mixed race.

The Pike County Pirates run-ruled the Southwest Macon Patriots 14-3 in five innings last Friday, April 1. The win gives the Pirates an 8-4 record for the season and first place in region 4-AA.
Nate Ferrell started on the hill for the Pirates. He pitched four innings and gave up three runs on six hits, giving him the win. Wade Palmer pitched the final inning and struck out two Patriots to seal the victory for the Pirates. [Full story »]

Pvt. Faulkner's body arrives home Wednesday
The body of Pvt. Jeremy Faulkner of the 101st Airborne will arrive at Falcon Field in Peachtree City at 11:04 a.m. Wednesday. A motorcade escorting the body will leave the airfield at about 11:30 a.m.

SRE: Pike hardest hit by storm
At 5:30 p.m., Southern Rivers Energy spokesman Erin Cook reported 2600 members were still without power as a result of Tuesday morning's storms. Pike County was the hardest hit area but the entire system was impacted.

Storm kills two in Butts; dozens of closed roads reopened
A Butts County man and his three-year-old child were killed overnight when a tree toppled by strong winds fell on their home. The man's wife and another child were sleeping in a different room and survived.
