Ashley Nichols of Zebulon and Matt Haynie of Milner announce the birth of their daughter Emmaleigh Eden Haynie at 7:03 p.m. Friday, Jan. 28, 2011, at Piedmont Fayette Hospital in Fayetteville.
She weighed 7 pounds, 10.4 ounces and was 21 inches long.
Maternal grandparents are Dan and Cathy Nichols of Zebulon.
Paternal grandparents are Debbie Haynie and the late Milton Haynie of Albany. [Full story »]

Kevin and Natalie Colwell of Griffin announce the birth of their son Jerry Levi Colwell at 12:59 p.m. Monday, Feb. 7, 2011, at Spalding Regional Medical Center in Griffin.
He weighed 7 pounds, 5 ounces and was 20 inches long.
Levi was welcomed by big brother Cole Turner and big sisters Camryn Turner, Emily Colwell and Marlee Colwell.
Maternal grandparents are Thomas and Marlene Proctor of Williamson.
Paternal grandparents are Jerry Colwell and the late Kaye Cox Colwell of Zebulon. [Full story »]

County to combine courts

Pike County commissioners voted to combine the magistrate and probate courts by a 3-2 vote at the Feb. 22 meeting after they were presented with information detailing 23 counties in Georgia with combined courts. The combination is projected to save Pike around $70,000 a year and must be approved by a resolution from the Georgia legislature. [Full story »]
