Molena Fest set for Saturday
Molena will be alive with the sounds of music, smells of fair food and horse and buggy traffic Nov. 6 for Molena Fest. The day will start at 8 a.m. with a 5K run/walk. The parade will start at 10 a.m. and the popular Pet Parade will follow.

Feline photo show scheduled
Cats and kittens from all over will be featured in Picture Purr-fect at A Novel Experience in November. This is the first photo show featuring cats. Dogs are featured each year in February’s Puppy Love exhibition.

Veterans Day events planned all week
All veterans will be honored at several events throughout the week in Pike County. Pike County Middle School's program is set for Friday, Nov. 5 at 9:30 a.m. Candler Field Museum's celebration will be held Saturday, Nov. 6 at the Peach State Airport in Williamson. A Veterans Day Ceremony will be held at noon on the courthouse square Nov. 11, sponsored by Pike Post 197.

Results: Blackmon, Bass win handily
Election Day is over and the unofficial results have been announced. Early votes that were cast at the courthouse have been tallied. The Zebulon, Concord, Lifsey Springs, Meansville, Molena, Second District, Hollonville and Williamson precincts have been announced. A turn out of 56% of voters made it to the polls. Final results will be announced Friday once 6 provisional ballots and military ballots have been tallied.

Cross country dominates region
The Pike County Pirates dominated the course as they hosted the Pike 4AA Championships Oct. 28 and both cross country teams are headed to state competitions Saturday, Nov. 6.

A Pike County man is one of three who will spend the rest of their lives in prison after being sentenced for murder in Harrison County, W.Va., on Oct. 28.

Burousas' taxes cut after house fire
Pike County commissioners granted a $2,192.66 tax assessment adjustment to the home of Teresa Burousas, who is in the Upson County jail facing a murder charge in the July 1, 2009 death of her husband Jimmie "Buzz" Burousas Jr. The fire was a suspected arson.

Drama students visit the afterlife
A group of 10 train passengers have to decide which train to take in "Tracks" a one-act play written by Peter Tarsi and directed by Joan Thomas. The play will be performed in the Pike County auditorium Tuesday, Nov. 2 at 6 p.m. in preparation for Regional One Act competition on Nov. 5.
