Chief Jim Roberts of the Molena police department stopped an apparent burglary in progress Jan. 16. He was on routine patrol in a residential area when he noticed a suspicious car.

I just wanted to know if this was a burglary in progress and the Chief of Police caught him. Why was he not arrested?

I was listening to my scanner when this officer called in to 911 dispatch about a strange vehicle and he was going to check it out. Judgeing by the radio traffic back and forth, this officer was clueless about what to do with this situation so that would explain why the perp was not arrested.

LOL, they bought him a new $30,000.00 suv to park around town and sit in the dark in with his young sidekick. We pay for him to take it home to Concord every day too. We should be proud of our mayor who never lets her job at the bank influence her city job.

Wow just the facts, armed with a scanner. You are the 2011 law dog of the year now aren't you. Sounded clueless as to what to do in this situation?????? You got it, darn officer, he should just be terminated!!!! I mean he failed to tell the scanner world what was going on, and by all means make sure they were clear about what he was doing out there, so I guess fire him, let the idiot that thinks he is clueless do the job, after all with all of the education it takes to sit on your lazy rear all day glued to a scanner, its no doubt that you are perfect for the job. P.S. although we as Realtors would like to prosecute, Fannie Mae wont, that's why the guy isn't in jail.

Wow, Cheif Robert's sidekick speaks. lol Get a life of your own buddy and leave posting to grown ups. I wonder why the cheif doesn't defend himself like he did way back last year after the stick-up at the gas station. Remember? Hhhuuummmmm.

First off let me say that as a resident of Molena, I am proud of the chief of police and this city. I am however ashamed of those who say they live in this city but don't seem to be able to find anything good to say about this our town. I can't believe that anyone would complain about Molena purchasing a 25,000.00 vehicle, for a town that has not bought a new car in over 10 years. You complain about a man that puts in 60 plus hours a week to keep you safe, not to mention wears many hats in town. I guess I should add that you are too much of a coward to go to the city hall and let the chief know what your concerns are, why no, you just bash our town because you have nothing else to do. You should be ashamed of yourselves. I don't know where the chief lives, and I don't care, but I do know that when the call comes out day or night, I hear him on the scanner, coming to help us out. How about those of you who dont seem to appreciate what our chief does for us. Again, if you don't like what you see, speak out, come to the council meetings, talk to the chief, but stop hiding like the coward that you seem to be, and man up. I am proud of our town, proud of the employees, and you should be to.

I have lived in Molena my whole life and I don'
t like hateful comments like yours Resident. We had two perfectly good police cars and for a town like this, that's all we needed. It's funny that when concerned citizens post about things they don't like, they are shouted down by Resident and anonymous who call people cowards for not posting their names. WOW! Molena is what it is. Lets face it, we need a new city council and we could find a replacement for Jim Roberts and our mayor who didn't atract all these negative comments every time there is a story about Molena. That should tell you something about their abilities and how the majority of people of people feel about them. And by the way anonymous and Resident, if you hadn't posted your selfrightous comments this story would have "gone away" on its own. Now we will be reading bad things about Molena for the rest of the week.

I think the police chief does a fine job in Molena! We needed a new police car! The city has a DARN GOOD CHIEF! THANKS FOR ALL YOU DO!

look people if fanie may wont prosicute there is nothing to else to do the chief is only one man and can do no more than he can if you think you can do better good luck all you can do is sit at home clueless and listen to your scanners and colect your workmans comp checks or welfare checks and think you can do better but you can not all you want to do is stir the pot that is calling the kettle black so get the facts straight before you put your foot in your mouth

I must say a thank you to all of the law enforcement in Pike COunty, including Molena. Chief, you are already aware who the two or three people on this site are that are talking down about the job that you do. I want you to always remember that those folks are the same ones that are truely unhappy individuals, they cant find happiness in anything about their life, and you are just an easy pick for their negativity. Dont let their inability to act humane slow you down from properly serving those of us who need you. I might add, next time they call for your service, ignore their call, they can hide, but their identity isnt so hidden, I will meet with you this next week and reveal them to you. Dont be shocked, but its at least two that shake your hand on a regular basis and smile in your face, typical. Keep up the good work, we will talk this week.
