Harry L's post:
Please help Pike County. We have no animal control in our county and our residents need additional education on animal control. thanks, Harry
What is so bad about his post, FB? It's obvious we DO need additional education on animal control. Did you just read his comment wrong? I dont' see an reference to ignorance.
what education do we need on animal control? he obviously wrote that to say because the people are unwilling to pay for it that we need to be educated about it.
that's the way i see it. if i misunderstood mr L. then i apologize.
Sorry, FB, but you are no mind reader. You can't possibly "know" that he meant anything inflammatory by his post. You assumed the worst. I prefer to assume the best. Go back and read it for what it appears to be. A plea for help for a county that has no animal control, no shelter, and needing these funds.
And yes, I do think many Pike County people need educating about proper animal care.
Look at all the strays.
Look at the dogs dead on the side of the road due to neglect by the owner.
Look at the people who allow dogs to roam the neighborhoods and get into trouble, rather than fencing them and properly caring for them.
Look at all the poor female animals that are allowed to breed, then are tossed out like so much trash, instead of being spayed.
Look at all the puppies born that starve to death because the mother dog was hit on the road, and nobody knows about the pups in the culvert, or hidden away in the woods.
Look at all the males animals out breeding even more strays, rather than being "fixed".
Education = learning. Learning is never bad, no matter what the subject is. Look on the bright side occassionally.
i rarely see strays here in zebulon. when i do they aren't strays for very long.
as far as the "education" we need. it's not about education on animal control. it's some people who need a good arse whooping for not caring properly for their animals.
i don't need to be educated to accept that i have to pay to care for them.
THE ANIMALS NEED OUR VOICES! TOO MANY ARE SUFFERING AND DYING NEEDLESSLY HERE IN PIKE CO. EVERYONE PLEASE REMEMBER TO VOTE EVERY DAY UNTIL THE CONTEST IS OVER. I BELIEVE IT ENDS JAN. 31. THANK YOU.
I have been contracted by a citizen of Zebulon to remove nuisance animals from the residents property. Various stray cats have been causing damage to the home owners property and endangering the occupants personal animals. The traps will be set out on the west side of the City of Zebulon in the Pope St./Joy St. vicinity. All animals will be humanely trapped and disposed of in a likewise fashion. Contractor and resident will keep identities confidential during this time. If you live or know people that live in the area please please be aware and make others aware of this. Pike County itself does not have its own animal shelter. Counties without a shelter gives the trappers no choice but to take these animals to be humanely disposed of by one of our licensed veterinarians in the greater Atlanta area.
