Two female workers from the women’s pre-release center dump a load of debris into one of two dumpsters that were completely filled during two work days last week. The old school buildling is now cleaner than it has been in decades.

The Downtown Development Authority is moving forward with plans to renovate the old Adams Street school in Zebulon.

Increased foot traffic. Where is the parking? Will HJ Wangs n Thangs close on performance nights so there'll be parking?

Historic renovation tax credits? HUH. Let's do that for the court house instead of the SPLOST.

parking lots will be created on the 4 adjacent acres purchased for the new judicial complex that don wants so bad.

This is great! It is a beautiful building. I think I was in the last Kindergarten class to use it in it's day. If this is the correct building, I remember it well.

It probably is the same. I was there in the mid '60's but dropped out of school half way through kindergarten. Went back to first grade with Mrs. Walter Johnson as the teacher. Anyone remember any of the other teachers' names ??

When was the last class? I was in that classroom in 1970.

I believe the last class was 71-72. I went to k in the white-wooded part of the the basement, and I am sure there was 1st going on in the main building. We ate lunch in what is now the Chandler building. Then we went to 1st in trailers over at what is now the city hall.

I had Mrs. Smith in 1975 for kindergarten - and there are lots of classmates that are still around that was in my class. It may have been 1978; my brother started kindergarten in 1979 and I know he didn't go to the same building, so it was definitely between 75 and 79.

I believe the school was in operation from 1926 until 1973. Yes, I remember luch was served in the old high school building ( now Walker's office building ). The great disciplinary threat from our teacher was to be sent to the boiler room. It worked !! No misbehavin' around there.
