Veterans Day events planned all week
All veterans will be honored at several events throughout the week in Pike County. Pike County Middle School's program is set for Friday, Nov. 5 at 9:30 a.m. Candler Field Museum's celebration will be held Saturday, Nov. 6 at the Peach State Airport in Williamson. A Veterans Day Ceremony will be held at noon on the courthouse square Nov. 11, sponsored by Pike Post 197.
IN GOD WE TRUST
This is a Community Outreach of the PCMS History Club. This morning 106 area veterans were honored by the students of PCMS. It is truly a magnificent presentation. All Veterans are welcome and were made to feel proud to have served in Armed Forces of the United States.
The students of PCMS passed out programs as we entered the assembly and said, "Thank You for coming to our program, Sir". How refreshing to know that the teachers of PCMS are doing their best to bring a realization of the history of the Armed Forces to these young people.
Tomorrow, November 6 another Veterans Day Program will be held at Peachstate Airport just west of Williamson. For more information see www.peachstateaero.com.
This morning 106 Veterans were brought to tears by this outpouring of appreciation from PCMS Staff and Students.

Thank you for coming to our program. It was an honor to have you there. We talk to our students a lot about the freedoms that we have in our country, and the sacrifice that people like you made so that we can have it. We are very proud of our students for understanding and appreciating this. Thank you again for your service to this country!
Having been accused of being many kinds of "a nut", I am a nut separate from the disparaging nut vernacular. Read that to be a car buff nut.
The car in the photo stood out as I owned a similar vehicle in the 1950's.

I believe the photograph was taken circa 1949-1950. To my tired old eyes the vehicle appears to be a 1949 Pontiac. Maybe the gentlemen could clarify the photo date and crack this car nut quandry for me.
