The above is incorrect--the original proposal was to cut school taxes 50% for those over age 65, NOT $50,000. Over age 70 would be exempt from school taxes. The committee skewed the numbers and intent. Also Fayete County give those over age 65 a 50% reduction in school taxes and bonds, Cobb county gives 100% relief for those over age 62. The committee did not do their homework. Not to smart for school board members and elected officials.
