Zebulon council took further steps at the Sept. 14 meeting to try and bring a local bar and grill into compliance with the city’s beer and wine pouring ordinance. A motion was approved to schedule a second hearing in as many months to discuss the violation.

In other law breaking circumstances, do people schedule meetings to decide which action to take or do they stop the offending behavior right then??

Pull the license. It is disrespectful not to show or at least send an attorney in their place. They made it a point to show how important this license is to them by not appearing. Either that or they are not concerned because they are in the Zebulon mafia. If its mafia go to Elmo & Busters and get ya a cold one. The taps will be flowing. Its kind of funny, Morton being a lawyer and all, seems to be representing the City and bar at the same time! I guess he is doing some public defense work! He is really giving tax payers their moneys worth.

If the city of Zebulon is so concerned with people obeying the law, they need to take a look at the laws concerning how the city limits can be expanded. It specifically disallows a city to extend an arm out in order to tax a specific institution that they believe will bring in more taxes.

If the bartender will hang from the ceiling while pouring the beer, it will not be illegal. He will be in airspace like airplanes. Now worry about something serious, like "What do they plant to grow seedless grapes? or Why does flammable and inflammable mean the same thing?"

there was an incident yesterday by the golf course on 18. i seen emergency vehicles and a body being put in the coroner van. i was also curious on this.

It's my understanding that the incident on Hwy 18 was a gentleman from the Newnan/Grantville area that had a heart attack and died in his vehicle. He must have felt it coming on and was able to pull the vehicle safely to the road side. Sad part is the truck was there all day before anyone stopped to check on why the truck was there. There poor man was dead in his truck all day. So sorry for this family.

I preached the evils of sin and beer drinking at our two golf courses, Cedars and Pines. Got laughed down and made fun over. There should be no compliance to bring a business into for the evils of alcohol. If you want to commit sin then go to another county, this is Pike and we don't need beer, wine or strippers. Call your chain of church members NOW.

Please notice I have put up a Vote for Governor sign in my yard, ya'll know what that means.

You are in the Bible Belt. Most of these Christians support all the sins you speak of. They say they cannot refrain from activities like that. But they go to church and thank Jesus for dying so they can do what ever they want. They believe this is how they will make it to heaven. Go get ya a beer and a lap dance. Remember the tune "we all sinners, yea!" Look around Pike County. They make a joke out of religion.

Once upon a time a lady was going to trial for beating her husband to death. When asked why she done it she said, "It's like this, I poisoned the eggs in husband number 1,2 and 3. They died peacefully. The reason I beat number 4 to death is because he would not eat his eggs."

So as your answer, Mayhem. I tried to stay until death we did part, but they would not eat their eggs.

So like all the others that keep committing the same sin, over and over, I can see why you want to hop on Jesus's back trying for that free ride. You will get further on your broom. Stick with it. (no pun intended)

P.S. There has been a lot of media on this website about a poor young lady who was beat to death. I know you think it is funny to write about people being beat to death. But if you can show just the tiniest bit of compassion for her family we would appreciate it. Maybe they will find peace in another 26 years and you can start up again about your sick acts against humanity.

It was my understanding that Elmo and Busters could only serve alcohol if a restaraunt was attached to the business. The restaraunt closed up months ago. I don't understand why they are still open...

I'd move to Pike County if they had some good hangout places to sit and enjoy a cold one. Nearest one I've found is the Riverside Bar on the Flint River but they are not open on Sundays. Here in Clayton County every bar is open on Sundays.

I think that may be why it is hard to open a watering hole here. it cant make code...too close to a house of worship any where you could possibly attempt to build... bring back "The Truck-Stop" !!! lol....

Pike needs to build all the churchs they can. Maybe one day they will build one that can actually read and comprehend what the Bible states. That would be a true miracle. Imagine a church in Pike that upholds the Ten Commandments! But with the economy the way it is I am sure they will stick to the easiest and of course the most profitable version of the Christian religion. Its like going to the gym. Would you rather go to a gym that makes you run 2 miles, do 25 push-ups, and then lift weights for an hour. Or would you rather go to a gym and get a full body massage and walk the treadmill for 5 minutes. Being one of those self proclaimed Christians is like going for the massage. But being true to the word of God is like going to the other gym. And like people that run and lift weights you will see results.

All they have to do is put on a cheap buffet on Friday and Saturday nights between 5pm and 9pm and charge a cover charge to get in. Then say the cover charge is for the buffet. Works in Atlanta.

To Both sides of the Fence; Don'ts blame all this on our county attorney. Times are tough all over for all the peoples. If our county, city attorney and judge combo can represent both sides in courts then he is doing a good job. Three paychecks is better than ones.
