Homecoming was celebrated all last week with a parade, pep rally and bonfire leading up to the Pirates 42-35 defeat of the Monticello Purple Hurricanes. The crowning of the Homecoming King and Queen was held on the field following Friday night’s game.

Where's the black couple? They use to have a black and white couple for king and queen.

Why does race have to be the center of everything? It seems the people always screaming about where's the black one or where's the white one are really the racist ones. We will never get past racism worring about what color the winner is... and why is that in an era when we should be past all this do we have BET, Nergo College Fund, Black Miss America? Aren't we all trying to be as one? How can we be one with all these divisions?

Please give the children a break. This is their senior year. I remember mine like it was yesterday. I was the Homecoming Queen 40 years ago. Just returned from my class reunion. Be nice.
