Tax bills have started arriving at homes across Pike County. They are due Dec. 27 and a few residents have already started paying.

Already started paying huh? You have no choice but to pay. And the idiots at the BOC and BOE and fire department will waste it. What a horrible cycle that we live in. And when they run out of money they will find something else to tax.

I supported bringing in Danny as fire cheif
I supported paying him $18,000 to get his feet wet.
I supported him when he got us a areial ladder truck.
I support Danny to be fulltime with all the benefits and salary the same as a Clayton fire cheif.
If you see him stop and shake his hand, let him know he is our hero.
The fire business is tough. My uncle was a fireman.

funny how barnesville is not getting an increase. I will surely be calling, my bill went up $350 from last year. And mine is due 12/20 and not 12/27

why did the fire tax double it was only suppose to be 25.00 but magicly it turned to 50.00 so now they are going to collect twice as much money for a volunteer system, well all you commisioners can forget about any splost money the court house can fall in for all i care ,they can work out of mobile trailers, everybody that works for pike county needs a 10% pay cut accross the board,we are slowly becomeing spalding county, its just ridiculous

How much did the boys home on Prayer Mountain pay in taxes? This is a "for profit" operation but probably gets by with no tax since it is considered a church operation.

It is not a "for profit" group. The $ families pay is based on income and does not equal the actual cost associated with each person served.

We did vote on the increases and fire fee (TAX).
We voted;
Roosevelt Willis in office.
Doug Mangham in office.
Parrish Swift in office.
Tommy Powers in office.
DON COLLINS in office.
Citizens can make the change positive.
VOTE THE BUMS OUT OF OFFICE NOW
SEND THEM PACKING LIKE WE DID MARRO & FRY

If the PAID volunteer Fire Chief cannot make it to BOC meetings then his PAID salary should be docked. Must have been to hot in the kitchen.He sure was not working in Clayton as a ff.

How do I get my hands on the budget? I want to see 12 Million in county operations. I believe in paying my part, but I think it is too easy to "take" what you think you need rather than figure out how do do more with less. At a time like now, no branch of government should be raising taxes, NONE! Maybe I'll run for position next election.

No it is not. We didn't get Homestead Exemption last year either. Taxes are higher this year than last year because the millage rate is higher this year than last year.

The state says we must balance the budget. The commissioners chose to do it on our backs instead of cutting costs.

I'm looking at it. Yes, the school tax is higher, but so is my county tax. On the same value as last year.

Bill has increased 100 dollars a yr for the last 2 yrs...What the heck is really going on.....no wonder people are losing their homes, always someone trying to take an extra dollar for their pocket....I am sick of it....

Please! Don't blame all this on fire cheif Henderson. He has been fire cheif less time than Obama has been our president. Yous peoples have to give it time to work. Like I said on my site, Pay me now or twice later.
