Pike County sheriff’s deputies have made 10 theft arrests in the past two weeks. Many of them were for stolen or damaged air conditioning units. According to Maj. David Neal it appears the suspects were taking copper from the units to sell as scrap metal.
DESPERATE TIMES CALL FOR DESPERATE MEASURES. HOW MANY OTHER WAYS CAN YOU MAKE MONEY IN PIKE COUNTY? KEEPING WALMART AND OTHER BUSINESSES OUT OF THE AREA DOESNT MAKE FOR MANY JOBS IN PIKE. I THINK BLAMING IT ON DRUG ADDICTS HAS NO BASIS. IN THIS ECONOMY IT COULD BE ANYONE. BUT IF IT IS DRUGS BLAME IT ON THE THE MANY LOCAL COUNTIES WHERE DRUGS ARE KNOWINGLY SOLD. WHILE PIKE COUNTY SHERIFF DEPARTMENT IS DOING AN EXCELLENT JOB CATCHING COPPER THIEVES, THE SHERIFF DEPARTMENTS IN ARE SURROUNDING COUNTIES SEEM TO BE DOING NOTHING ABOUT THEIR DRUG DEALERS. BUT THEN AGAIN THATS AMERICA. AMERICAN GOVERNMENT LOVES TO PROFIT OFF ILLEGAL DOPE SALES. DRUG ADDICTS ARE MOST OF THE PEOPLE IN JAIL POPULATION. IF YOU STOP ILLEGAL DRUG SALES YOU WOULD STOP A VAST AMOUNT OF CRIME. BUT BEING AMERICA IS NOT GOING TO STOP THE DRUG SUPPLY INTO THE COUNTRY ALL WE CAN CAN DO IS WAIT FOR THE NEXT ADDICT THAT NEEDS A FIX. MAYBE ARE OUR AC UNIT, MAYBE THE CAR, MIGHT JUST GET KILLED FOR THE CASH IN YOUR POCKET.

Put up the firepower, old timer. Two crooks have been nabbed in Griffin at the old Wal-Mart building. These thieves COULD be the ones bringing misery to people during these HOT days of Summer. Let's hope it's them.
Trawick Moore, 42,and Jerez Watkins, 22, both from Barnesville were arrested. From the Griffin Daily News:
"A subsequent investigation revealed that the two were involved in more than 50 commercial air-conditioning thefts that took place in Spalding, Lamar and Upson counties..."
Reading the article, it appears ol' Trawick got a chance to cut a deal first and rolled over on his "homeboy" Jerez.
Put 'em in the same cell and turn off the air conditioning.
