They have already cut code enforcement. That should save the county a lot of money, gas/vehicle costs, cell phone, laptop computer, water from the bathroom and training for a position never needed. I think next we should cut gravel contracts with Willis Dump Truck and Hauling.
How about cutting payments to the sheriff's office when they are 250,000 over budget.

Hands off the sheriff's department and Fire Chief Danny Henderson. These are emergency services and you Mr. FBT just do not understand government operations. You have to be a Republican! I have studied each of these departments and they need more funding not less.
Parrish has already said he would not be here to vote. Please someone put out the rumor that they will go into Executive Session and Parrish will be there.
I just hope they know that people just can not afford any more taxes. The county should be just like us, when money is low we must cut back at our house. County will JUST have to cut back somewhere.
The only way to significantly lower taxes is for we citizens to quit demanding the government (all levels) increase the services that we want them to provide. We need to be more self reliant.
I agree. I have lived in Pike County 20 years. I knew if I chose to live on a dirt road I should not complain that it was not paved, that I'd have to haul off my own trash, that my area only has a VOLUNTEER fire department, and that if my well went dry I'd have to pay for another.
Thank you for backing me up on this. BTW several years ago the all volunteer fire department saved my house from any significant damage due to a chimney fire. The chimney was toast (sorry, I couldn't resist), but not a bit of damage to the house.
A great many of us have moved into Pike (me, 28 years ago) as it was. Growth will occur naturally, we should not be all about upgrading to be like neighboring counties, but be happy with what we have. If we want more, that is our job to do, not getting the government to confiscate money from someone else to pay for our wants.
My major complaint with BOC & BOE is the same I have with all levels of government. Please learn to say no to your constituents.

both are WAY overfunded and should be cut by 50%.
the fire department just bought a ladder truck. A LADDER TRUCK. What for? to put out fires in all the high rise buildings in Pike?
They keep spending money like it's out of style.
Swift is GONE. Willis is NEXT. And the other three will be close behind.
